What defines culture & values????

Pros

Once was an industry leader and that is sadly where it ends as the issues across the board are epic!

Cons

If your definition of culture is based on perks then this is the company for you!Somewhere along the way Rockend adopted the belief that if you provide fancy bread in the kitchen, gym memberships for staff, and cupcakes at Mardi gras then it actually doesn't matter how you treat them. This fundamentally describes the Rockend culture. Over recent years they have gotten really good at the stuff that makes them look great from the outside but sadly this fish is rotting from its head!!! CEO sadly lacks the backbone to deliver on the vision and although he has been known to have a very strong presence from time to time (quarterly at least), the time he does spend is spent fighting the wrong battles. A 'yes' man if you are an unhappy customer and you make enough noise he will undermine the credibility and integrity of his team to distract from the fact that his business has fundamental issues at a far deeper level. Some of the most unethical and underhanded treatment of people I have ever witnessed and all done with a smile on their face.

Pros

- Mostly friendly people (can be artificial at times). - Offices have some nice decor and fittings. Australian Art is also nice. - When provided, food and drink is of a good quality.

Cons

Rockend Technology is a funny beast of a Company as it is; - A family run business started in the 1970's. - Its latest piece of Software was released nearly a decade ago. - It's most popular piece of Software is coming up to its 30th Birthday! - Innovation and Creativity are distant memories for a once magnificent specimen. - Diversity is not their strong suit, similar to their industry (Real Estate not Software) - I have never met more white middle aged (or older) people at a RSL let alone in a Software company. - They have a culture of Drug Use. - They pretend to hold the Customer at the centre of their Business but really they are just trying to keep the status-quo and in a Modern, Technology Driven environment it's like taming a Wild Bore – Good Luck! - Management has brought in new pig pens and restraints to try and keep their litter behaving but also that seems to be futile (with Piglets escaping each and every day). - Senior Management have their heads in the clouds and need to refresh their 3 word slogans, personality and their expectations for the Business. - Also their understanding of how actual ‘Technology’ works and should operate in a normal way is deplorable, systems and processes break-down daily providing a poor experience for the customer and also the staff. - Due to the habituation with the failures of systems and management they should really develop a "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" model (the shame is too much to bare). - Finally Rockend Technology Job Role Descriptions, Employee Benefits, Remuneration, Work life Balance are always exaggerated.

Your observation around a lack of diversity surprises us, because our acquisition strategy is simple, transparent and evident: we simply seek to employ the very best candidate for every role (one who demonstrates the right skills, attitude and mindset) regardless of their age, ethnicity or gender, or any other personal attribute, for that matter. Pros

I can only speak from my experience. The negatives far outweighed the positives. - You get paid on time. - Most people you work with are nice and supportive. - Free daily breakfast and alcohol on Fridays.

Cons

Too many negatives, but the main ones I can think of are: - Do not expect to perform the same roles as in the job description advertised. I was hugely oversold on the role. - New management came on board recently and destroyed the culture that once made Rockend a good place to work. - Enforced scheduled start/finish times and breaks. - Huge emphasis on "customer experience" resulting in forced changes most people at Rockend are not happy with. Management are disregarding employee wellbeing. - Turnover rate is starting to go through the roof due to recent changes that came along with new management. This is very obvious with people leaving in droves on an almost daily basis. - The support teams are being indoctrinated to get them to accept working in a soulless call centre with the included micro management, monitoring and control that come with it. - Very little to no career or learning opportunities. I was stuck performing the same mundane tasks on a daily basis. I was actually losing valuable skills gained in past roles working at Rockend. - Any employee perks are slowly being removed one after another (e.g. free gym membership). - Drug use is evident in the culture. - Rockend's current vision and goal is extremely unrealistic and bordering on the ridiculous.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and experiences to us. As the leader of the Customer Experience Team I am always wanting to hear the thoughts and insights of our current and previous employees. To this point I thought that I would share that I (and the other senior leaders) review all of our on-boarding and exit interviews. For Rockend to continue to deliver outstanding Customer Experiences I am passionate in building amazing employee experiences as well one cannot occur without the other. I acknowledge that we have seen people leave the business and whilst we hate to lose our team members, this doesn’t mean that we are not focussed on internal growth and career development, we are. Just recently we have run themed days and meals for our employees over EOFY which is one of our busiest times. We are launching a new tool to allow our employees to provide us feedback on their work, customer feedback and our environment. These are just a few of the things that we are working on. As we move Rockend into its next chapter and work aggressively towards our vision we will need to adapt and refine. My team and I hold ourselves accountable to doing this in a way that brings our people on the journey with us, and we will seek our teams’ opinions. We have to be customer AND employee focussed if we are to maintain our position as a leader in the market and grow exponentially. This will mean that we listen even more to what our customers want and when they want it. To do this we have to run an efficient operation and this will mean changes, so that our customers get served quicker, our teams are trained and developed as we evolve.
