Pros

If you're C-level you get a free Tesla, bunch of paid lunches and great salaries

Cons

Rocker is one of those companies were nothing ever is ever done to make things more interesting for the employees. Sure there is a Monday breakfast, but it consists of a piece of Crispbread and a glass of juice. The flow of information is kept minimal and it is almost as if HR and management takes pleasure in keeping people in the dark. The manager to employee ratio is also obscene with less than two employees pre managers in some departments. This results in extreme micromanagement The CEO is a powerless figurehead put in place by the main investors and the team is full of, with a few exceptions, big business folks who don't understand how to run a startup. The team has had poor retention and most people quit around the one year mark

Thank you for your feedback, though we are really sad to hear you have had a negative experience. We are a small but growing company and everyone in our team is of great importance to us. Nevertheless, we work hard to create the best possible conditions and experience for every member of our Rocker team, and therefore, we do not agree with the image of the company that you are trying to portray. We can always improve, and your feedback is valuable to help us understand how we can evolve as a company. Our door is always open if you would like to discuss this with us directly.

Great co-workers but poor leadership

Pros

People are really open and easy to talk to, regardless of which part of the hierarchy they are into. You can totally bump onto the CEO in the kitchen while pouring coffee and talk about life and everything. Work-life balance is good, given that no-one seems to care when you arrive or leave the office as long as work gets done. Salaries are ok.

Cons

The leadership is doing a terrible job at communicating. They decided to fire half the engineering staff overnight for which they made a poorly organised last minute meeting with everyone. No prior notice, no time to negotiate or defend the project you were working on and how it could affect the company from your perspective. They saw cold hard numbers and laid off employees just based on those. There is too much management for very few engineers. Almost one manager per two engineers. Management seems to have their hands tied as orders mostly come from "above". For example, the CEO seems to be unable to make his own decisions due to the founders and the board micromanaging most things. Decisions on product and marketing are taken arbitrarily and most times people only learn about them if they are called to work on a relevant task. Culture seems very superficial. People talk about company culture but there was barely any event that had employees hooked. On Fridays everyone is looking for the door. No real benefits for working from the office. No breakfast or sponsored team lunches. No fun activities (except for some who play ping-pong). The office itself is nothing special.

Thank you for your feedback, though we are really sad to hear you have had a negative experience. We are a small but growing company and everyone in our team is of great importance to us. As countless of other companies though, we too had to make some changes in the pandemic. And we know that some were upset about these changes.

Pros

If you are outside Sweden and want to work in Sweden, they sponsor visas.

Cons

If you have other options please stay away from this company, terrible toxic culture. This company is practically ruining people's careers and setting them up for failure. I usually don’t write reviews on glass doors, but this company and the management of this company is so toxic that I felt I owe it to my developer community. The management is incompetent, one bad decision after another and due to this there brand had such a bad reputation in Sweden that they rebranded themselves from BYNK to ROCKER. There are way too many managers in the company, every person is a “head of” something. All the management has leased expensive Teslas in the company's name and have high perks, but when it comes to the employees they don’t even offer standard pension plans. The have no regard for people, they brutally laid off 50% of their developers during the COVID-19 pandemic but hired more managers. There is a strong culture of hiring people who are family or family friends and then eventually those people are favored over others. I have never worked with a bunch of such corrupt people. The CEO is immature and incompetent and has absolutely no decision making ability or power, all the decisions are made by the CPO who is basically one of the co-founders. So if you want to have high salary and feel important in the company, you just have to walk around the CPO and agree to everything he says. The management and the founders are corrupt and that eventually makes everything stink in the company.
