Pushy with sales.

Pros

Most of the people you will work with are great and customers can often become your regulars if you give good service.

Cons

Extremely pushy with sales. Everything comes down to money made at the end of the day, you're not rewarded or praised for doing work that doesn't revolve around sales eg. stock, cleaning. You will be reprimanded if you don't follow the customer around store making "conversation", even if the customer has pretty clearly shown or said they aren't interested in being "assisted". You're expected to try make conversation anyway no matter what they say to you. You may be told to mislead or lie to customers to achieve a larger sale. For example we had a 2 for $100 deal, while in reality most pairs of items would only amount to $60-$90 when taking into account their actual prices. So we would be told to say a single item was $90 when in reality it was $50, in order to say "well you can get another one for just an extra $10" when really the customer is spending double what they should be.

Very Toxic Environment

Pros

The customers are fun to work with. Incentive bonuses are generous if you can meet their unreasonable targets. Performance driven business.

Cons

Upper management treat employees terribly. Anyone who isn't one of their favourites will get pressured into moving stores and if they don't, they will be pressured into leaving. I have seen casual staff members abused over the phone to the point where they burst into tears. Instead of training staff, they expect you to be able to go straight to the sales floor and meet their highly inflated targets. No work- life balance. They don't care if you have to work 10 days straight as you should be dedicating yourself to their brand.
