Pros

Dispatching is very enjoyable and rewarding. The pay is decent after the bump a few years back.

Cons

Management is awful. They do not care about their employees and do not want what's best for them. Unsafe practices and they pick and chose for special treatment.

Job security. With the Civil Service protection you are pretty much guaranteed your job as long as YOU do your job.

Cons

Beginning pay is lower than surrounding agencies. Pay raises are rare. However promotions guarantee you will get a pay increase. This may take years.
