Toxic Leadership, High Attrition & Disrespectful Exit Experience – Not What a “Great Place to Work” Should Be
Pros
Exposure to cross-functional finance operations. Few good team members who genuinely tried to make things work despite management behavior.
Cons
1. Extremely High Attrition: During my tenure of ~3.5 years, over 60 employees resigned from the Finance department alone, which had a team strength of only around 35. That should speak volumes about the culture. Yet, the leadership remained indifferent, showing no real effort to address the root cause of such high turnover — namely, the toxic and unprofessional behavior of the CFO. 2. Toxic & Petty Leadership: The CFO sets the tone for the culture, and unfortunately, that tone is driven by mistrust, micromanagement, and ego. Here’s one real example: the CFO required the office boy (responsible for maintaining physical records) to send two videos daily — one while entering the record room and one while exiting — just to "ensure" he was working. That’s the kind of absurd oversight that employees were subject to, regardless of their level or output. 3. Performance Doesn’t Protect You: Despite being rated a consistent “B” performer (which is reportedly only the top 5% of the org), once I resigned, the attitude toward me shifted completely. From delays to disrespect, I was made to feel like a liability instead of someone who had contributed value for years. 4. Exit Process Is Mentally Draining: My full and final settlement was delayed by over 60 days, and only after repeated follow-ups and pressure was the amount finally credited. There was no formal communication about delays, and to make things worse, the company tried to unjustifiably recover amounts from previously approved claims, which were incurred during month-end closings and late sittings — often as a team. They even raised objections to bills that had been initially approved orally by senior management, and only flagged them after my exit. This was nothing but an attempt to reduce their payout. 5. Company Policy Over Fairness: The company has a policy that incentives are not paid if you're on a notice period, regardless of the fact that the incentive is for past performance. This policy is not just demotivating, it’s exploitative. You work the entire year, earn your incentive, and still risk not receiving it just because you chose to move on. 6. Misleading “Great Place to Work” Tag: The organization flaunts its “Great Place to Work” certification proudly. In reality, this label hides a work environment full of fear, disrespect, and lack of psychological safety. Exit policies, grievance redressal, and people treatment are nowhere close to industry standards.
