Pros

I’ve been with the company over 6 months. The job itself is ok, although repetitive. There is a lot of wear and tear on your legs and feet with the constant standing. The really early 3:30am shifts I can do without and utterly loathe. The pay is relatively good for the work you do as the job itself is easy. To get into the security industry, this would be a good “in the door” method. • on-site parking • easy workload + no experience really necessary for

Cons

• Rotating roster so your body is never in synch and you can get run down quickly and you’re always tired. • You can’t seem to get the roster tailored to your needs. You’re given a Team roster and are required to work whatever hours and time your rostered. So if you’re wanting just morning, late mornings, early afternoons or nights, it doesn’t look like it happens here. Ideally a 7am start or a 7pm finish would be great. 5-6 hour shifts, is what I would prefer but you’re at the mercy of what’s given. Yet somehow, I hear some people talking about how they only do mornings or evenings. Uncertain how, unless they’re in some established clique circle. • A lot of the shifts given are rigged by rostering (as in you only get 2 breaks for an 8 hour shift, but shifts are mostly 7 hours, 7 half hours or 7 hours 45 minutes.) So you’re always shy 2 breaks. • Sadly, my experience is that the breaks themselves, for the most part, are really badly managed. Most team leaders try and rush people’s breaks so you get them too early or too close together and the brunt of the workload is lumped in the remaining time or start if the breaks are given too late. Today for example, I started at 3:30am, first break was 5:25am for 20 minutes, then my second was at 7:35am. So I’ll be on the floor on the return for almost 3 1/2 hours. That’s not _as_ bad as some days, where I’ve done an 8 hour and I’ve been on the floor for 5 hours in one span as my breaks were rushed by the team leader to clear so they can just pace the floor with less responsibilities. • I don’t mind the passengers, some are friendly, some rude, most don’t have a clue and you wonder how they even survived as a species. But overall, other than a decent pay check, I wouldn’t advise anyone to rush to be employed unless you’re trying security for the first time. This is an initiation. Personally, I’m already looking for a new job as another big factor of this business is zero communication. Rules get changed and you are easily susceptible to get in trouble as a memo is never sent out to staff with the changes. Or you get extended and no one tells you - it just happens and you’re the last to find out even though the decision involves you. One staff went to get a drink of water from the drink dispenser in one of the search rooms on the floor. Three of us were in there and saw the incident. However she got a cup of water from the “not cold” tap that used to be what you'd expect but instead copped a scalding to her mouth as it had been changed to boiling water (like you’d expect from a kettle). Noticed the sign on the wall after that it mentioned it was boiling after the incident, but because it’s been “not cold” as long as I’ve been here, you drift into a default mode and not expect something to happen like that. A memo or a newsletter mentioning that _would_ have been appreciated. So yeah, the cons is the reason for the low star rate.

Good place to work if you stay out of the politics

Pros

Flexibility of shifts and you get to meet a lot of people

Cons

If you get caught up with the politics of the company. You might be labelled as the black sheep. That also involves standing up for unfairness. Join a union and save yourself
