Cons

Pros
Programs are well designed. Good background reflection. Strong support team at Head Office. Culture of discussion and consensus
Cons
Procurement processes are complex Operations and programs can be disconnected.
Pros
The people in the main office in The Hague are very friendly and make a nice place to work. They usually help each other and care about one another. The office atmosphere is warm and friendly, so it is easy to fit in and feel like part of the team. Salary ranges are competitive for an international NGO.
Cons
Limited opportunities and the management team's disinterest in career growth have left many colleagues stuck in dead-end positions. Performance review cycles are ignored as no stakes are involved. The organization operates without a focus on performance/KPIS, lacks basic 21st century digital tools (report expenses, book a desk), and offers minimal space for employee-driven initiatives or upward feedback. Most (NL) teams suffer from a considerable skills gap, departments are filled with generalists and only a few specialists. Hiring decisions are often made based on NGO or global-south experience instead of the skills needed for the function. SNV is characterized by unclear structure and direction, countries, the executive team, projects, and sector leaders pulling for influence, reducing our direction and goals to PowerPoint presentations and a few nice words on our global meetings.
Pros
Good projects, a lot of learning.
Cons
The management team is not always the most prepared to run a nonprofit.
