Pros

You learn quickly mainly because you are thrown in at the deep end, with limited planning in place for new or changed roles, without good leadership or management to guide your development and due to the amount of work required to be delivered. There are some lovely hardworking people at the company The mission of the organisation (scope 3 decarbonisation) is a good one, though it is not being realised

Cons

Uncompetitive salary and benefits Abysmal leadership from middle management upwards - full of toxicity, ego and disagreeableness Poor culture and limited trust in leadership decisions Constant redundancies for the past 1.5 years have created a stressful place to work. Many redundancies handled very poorly which has led to much resentment and anger within the staff that remain Leadership lasered focused on profit above all else Company undergoing huge internal change as it shifts to a new business model Many decisions made internally are not communicated properly or at all despite this being fedback time and time again HR only purpose seems to be making people redundant and replying defensively to people on Glassdoor D&I non existent and people's concerns about this are not taken seriously I would not recommend working here - people are extremely unhappy, stressed and looking to leave because there is no faith in the business direction or the leadership - highly likely the business will fail

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience was not a positive one. It’s true that our organisation has undergone a significant period of change, as is normal in a growing company. No decision is ever taken lightly and each one is made with the long-term sustainability of the business and our employees in mind. We recognise the impact change can have on individuals and teams and we remain committed to supporting our people through these transitions with care and transparency. We know that change can be difficult, it’s not always immediately easy to see the full picture when you’re in the middle of it. At the same time, we want to acknowledge and highlight the significant progress that has been made, much of it led by our People & Culture team in close collaboration with others: • A new Learning Management System to support professional development and training. • A course library with general and specific courses such as bespoke EDI (Equity, Diversity & Inclusion). • A performance review process and system to encourage regular feedback and clearer progression pathways. • A full review and benchmarking of benefits, with enhancements already implemented in key areas. • Active work on company culture, with encouraging feedback from many current team members. The People & Culture team plays a critical role in helping the business and our people navigate change. Our intent is always to respond to feedback with fact and fairness, and we are proud of the progress made, even while acknowledging there is always more to do. We’re sorry you didn’t feel this progress during your time with us and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

A ship without a compass

Pros

The company is very forward thinking and not the worst place to work. The wages offered are fair (although slightly below the industry standard), and there is opportunity to grow via applying for open vacancies internally. However, there are not appraisals or promotions. Most of the people that I work with genuinely have a passion for sustainability. Most of the work is remote as well.

Cons

The company likes to consider itself a scale-up, but is unable to transition further in the way that it operates. Changes are made in business operations very suddenly, and employees directly affected usually find out on the day, without prior consultation. When it comes to the directors, it's very much a case of 'my way or the highway', and this is what holds the business back from growing further. A few of the directors are also very unpleasant and disrespectful, and even when multiple complaints are raised by staff, these seem to be ignored. I would only recommend working here if you have worked at a start-up previously. Changes are constantly made that truly don't make a lot of sense. Staff turnover is high, due to many similar businesses competing in the climate tech market, and overall dissatisfaction at how you are treated on a daily basis. They are currently making redundancies left right and centre so not a secure job at all. Overall I would not recommend.

Hello. I'm sorry to see your feelings on the company. I see it stated you are a current employee, so you will know that the appraisal process was trained and implemented with reviews going on right now. We are a start-up company and with our growth we are improving our employee value proposition, processes and systems, this often feels like change but without it we cannot improve efficiency and engagement. Complaints are certainly taken seriously where we are made aware of them, they are acknowledged and addressed. At the time of your review 13th December 2023 to date no redundancies have been made. Please speak to People & Culture so we can understand your feedback better. Best wishes, People & Culture Manager

Thank you for your review. I see it stated that you are a former employee. I'm not sure when you left the business but in the last several months we have provided coaching and training to all our managers, we also implemented our appraisal programme which includes learning and development and career progression. The lack of diversity & inclusion comment is surprising as quite the opposite has been fed back many times however we are keen to be more proactive and have communicated that further training is in our plan as well as launching other EDI initiatives. We also have huge amounts of work being done to optimise processes which enable more efficiency. Lots of great stuff being done all the time and with many of them new it is not surprising that it can feel like sudden change.
