Pros

My boss was an incredible guy and worked hard. He set a good example in many ways.

Cons

IT is fully an old boys club - new ideas are not wanted or listened to. After they sold off a third of the company and dragged everyone back to the office with a wildly improbable and unpopular RTO policy, I'm surprised anyone is left there. Pay is a little lower than market, which they try to offset with benefits. Oh but wait, you can't take time off or you have to go into the office more often, and they outsourced the retirement plans. Never mind.

Pros

Great people; average pay; good benefits;

Cons

Company doesn't have a clear direction; always making changes but don't complete the change and make yet another change.

Pros

Easy straightforward work Good benefits and a pension fully funded by the company offered Fairly good training , low pressure environment

Cons

Working in dt St Paul sucked, had to step around sleeping drugged out homeless people in the skyways, lots of panhandlers asking for money , had some younger homeless people harass me and try to start fights lol parking /driving your own car to work was costly $. Parking used to be covered by company during covid but then they reversed that and made employees pay to park themselves which was 5-15 dollars a day depending on if you wanted indoor or outdoor /how far you were willing to walk I worked with a 90 percent female staff , most of whom were 50-70 yrs old and I to constantly deal with hs style drama and bickering between some of the women and mediate childish fights. They constantly accused each other of being lazy when most of all of them were lazy and entitled cause they all had worked together in the same dpt for 10 plus yrs and felt entitled to do whatever they wanted The job progressively became more about team building daily meetings which were pointless and a waste of time and less about getting our work done first and efficiently . So much wasted time and talking about what you did and how you felt then just working and doing the job well. Everyone arguing about who should be doing what rather than everyone keeping defined roles based their skills and efficiency I felt hourly pay was intentionally low/not competitive with market rates because of the promise of the company funded pension if you stayed 3 plus yrs there or more

Pros

Fantastic benefits package Great people to work with Comfortable office to work in

Cons

Documentation in roles is lacking, meaning processes are being forgotten because the retirees and managers aren’t making sure anything is written down on how to do anything.

Pros

Securian has great work–life balance, genuinely kind and supportive coworkers, and a very stable, values-driven culture. The benefits are strong — especially the pension — and leadership generally treats people with respect. It’s a steady place to grow your skills without burnout.

Cons

Decision-making can be slow, and the organization is very risk-averse, which sometimes makes innovation difficult. Career progression can feel limited depending on your team, and processes can be bureaucratic. Some departments move at a much slower pace than others, which can be frustrating if you’re used to a more dynamic environment.
