      Pros

      SeeByte is a great place for a software engineer working with underwater robots to build a career. There is great team spirit and no shortage of great projects to work on. I personally really enjoyed my time at sea trials where I was able to see my software working! I also particularly like the people that work in SeeByte and find them approachable and nice.

      Cons

      The work may demand a lot of international travel which may have an impact in your work-life balance if not managed appropriately.

      Short term great but not a career maker

      Pros

      - Working in robotics gives you a lot of bragging rights. - If you're lucky you can land on a very interesting project, although you might become a specialist on some particular technology and be stuck there forever. - Sometimes there are opportunities for travelling to countries such as the US. - The working hours are flexible so you can arrange different hours with your manager or be a bit flexible as long as you work your hours. - For the previous reason, work life balance is amazing. - There's a lot of clever people so you can learn a lot if you're ready to listen. - The office is relatively close to the city center.

      Cons

      - There's a lot of legacy software which hasn't been properly managed and becomes everyone's problem, but no one invests on fixing it. - Engineers aren't listened to, their career paths are decided by the company which might lead to a conflict of interests. - Medium/Lower management has absolutely no power and are always superseded by budgets and business decisions. - A cumbersome development process which makes it incredibly difficult and annoying to get anything done (CMMI). - Managers communicate between themselves, but since engineers aren't listened to, ideas aren't transmitted properly, which leads to poor inter-project communication. - Salaries aren't great, below the current industry standards. - General lack of respect towards engineers by some managers, oftentimes moving them to positions out of their expertise.

      Great atmosphere and interesting work

      Pros

      - There is some very interesting work to do in the field. Working with robots is a very rewarding experience for an engineer. - There are many opportunities to travel in some great places. The travel compensation is decent and you can often take holidays at the travel destination by adjusting your return flight date. - There people from all over the world here and they are great to work alongside. The engineers are very knowledgeable so you can learn a lot from them. - The offices are located close to the center of Edinburgh, which is an amazing city to live in. - There is a good work/life balance

      Cons

      - The development process is quite cumbersome (CMMI) and doesn't always guarantee high quality code - Engineers move often between projects which can be disruptive for both the engineer and the project. Sometimes engineers are placed in positions outside their areas of interest.
