Pros

I met a few great people while working here, a few lifelong friends. The business itself is unique, and we became quite knowledgeable in what we did.

Cons

Because the business is reliant on the housing market and contracts, it can be very up and down with work. We had to wear many hats to meet the needs of clients and we were moved around a lot. It’s difficult to feel secure with your job, because there were people who had ill intentions even in management. Still working through PTSD from my time here.

Pros

Working near home is a positive thing about this company, some co-workers can become your friends. But watch your back, most of them carry knives. The knowledge of the employees is what runs the company as management themselves don't know much, and are simply there to rule by force and intimidation rather than using guidance, strong leadership or use a moral compass.

Cons

Worst experience of my life!!! This place is a joke! I stayed as long as I did because of the convenience for my family, and I also quickly realized the experience I was gaining was not easily applied to other jobs around, so it didn't translate and I had to take a pay cut to leave and start over. The place is run by very negative individuals (women) who are on major power trips, make everything personal and set out to find an individual's failures and exploit them, rather than properly train and reward success. You are rewarded from the main manager by tattle tailing, backstabbing and sabotaging fellow co-workers. This is a hostile work environment, beware that unless you are a part of the in crowd (the mean girls club) you will always be an outsider, and they will always look to set you up for failure. They were a salaried company for a few years and they completely took advantage of everyone by expecting 50+ hours a week, thinking that making you salary means they own you, but they don't compensate fairly for the time you put in. They do not offer medical benefits, and don't fairly compensate people with families to be able to afford anything on the Marketplace. When you want to take PTO it's hung over your head and often times denied, while the main managers take off time whenever they want, leaving the employees to carry the company as they do. They have a contract that would not be possible without their contractors but they treat them horribly like children, and not like the business partners they should be. They look for reasons to not pay contractors for their hard earned work, and have very unrealistic expectations. This could be a great place and it was better at one time, but these people will eat their young and have no qualms about it. I had a horrible experience at this place mainly at the hands of one person, most of the employees are unhappy and no one really cares you. You are simply a warm body, and they will move you around the company as just that: a warm body with no career growth in mind. This company claims to have unimpeachable ethics, and that is just not true at all on the inside, but what they want to appear as on the outside. If they truly had unimpeachable ethics they would start over and get rid of the people who shouldn't be there instead of letting them run the show. If the managers didn't constantly write reviews (dishonest ones) about this company they wouldn't have such a high rating- true story. Stay away!

Pros

1.) You get a paycheck if you can call it that. They claim that they pay higher than "industry" standard, but there is little competition in the Field Service industry, so the bar is set pretty low. 2.) One huge pro is the day you leave this place for another job and find that every other company culture is better than this one. You don't have to be treated like dirt to be paid a decent wage.

Cons

In my professional life, I've never worked for a company like this. The culture reminds me of all the worst parts of high school: petty, backstabbing, cliquish, baseless rumors, and more, basically like the mean girls in the movie Mean Girls. This culture is in direct reflection of the management style of the executive "team." I use the word "team" loosely because one person really rules the coop and the others follow. There is little room to grow within the company. I would consider this an entry level job without any upward mobility. There are 3 tiers in this company, the Executive Team, Middle Management, and entry level. The middle management tier is a new addition because Sentinel had to make changes to adapt to new health care laws. Middle Management is just a smoke screen, they have no real power or authority over their teams, nor do they lead. The executive team has a tight grasp on everything. There is no trust. Sentinel claims they want to hear from their employees, but that is another lie they tell to appease everyone. If change happens it's because it's thrust upon them by external forces, not from within. What change occurred during my tenure with the company occurred only after months of infighting and push back. When new technology was being introduced, the executive team pushed back on every facet of the roll out, often pushing back on items that were approved just days earlier. Decisions that were clear cut were muddied by their lack of action and personal vendettas. I wouldn't recommend anyone become a client of or vendor for this company. Many of the problems that Sentinel have will never be addressed. All potential clients and vendors beware.
