Pros

The best co-workers I've ever had. The owner is super selective in who he hires and requires a lot of competency testing and a personality test. The outcome is that this company is full of amazing people.

Cons

Unfortunately, that's where the pros end. The owner of this company creates an incredibly hostile work environment. When I started, I thought it was odd that almost everyone in the company had only been there for 6 months or less. Then I quickly learned why. Anyone who is a direct report to the owner, Aaron, is doomed from day 1. He has no filter. He calls people an idiot to their face, screams/swears at people in meetings, and also doesn't conduct his business in the most ethical manner. He has NO accountability and blames everyone else for anything that goes wrong, even if he had a direct hand in it. It's ironic he puts so much effort into hiring the right people because he trusts no one. Micromanaging at it's finest. He'll tell everyone how he could have completed that task in 5 minutes. It got to the point where it was laughable and a running joke through the whole company because of how often he would walk by people's desks and tell them they had "no sense of urgency" or that he could have done that in 5 minutes. When I was hired, I specifically asked about training and was told there was a 6 week training process. Sure, that's true if you're a technician, engineer, or PM. Any other office jobs, be aware, there is no training or guidance. You have to just know what Aaron wants/needs and figure the rest out yourself. Luckily, everyone else is pretty willing to help fill in the blanks the best they can. The week after I left, about a dozen other people quit. Of course anytime someone quits, Aaron exclaims how he was going to fire them anyway and they were a terrible employee anyway. The place is a revolving door because no one can tolerate this guy.

OK pay and benefits, but a bad work environment

Pros

Good learning experience in the beginning and some of my peers were very friendly. Compensation was fair and benefits were good.

Cons

Ownership/management can be critical of their employees until the point it is no longer professional but personal. Insane amount of turnover. Management churns and burns new hires to the point that some of the most veteran employees had been there less than 2 years. No flexibility. Management claims they want to "empower" their employees, yet every process is rigidly controlled to the point that it hindered any real progress. Management is inconsiderate of their employees' time. Set up a meeting or a review with management? Better plan on them being at least 20-60 minutes late. Employees were instructed to lie to customers.

Pros

- Decent pay, decent benefits (health, dental, 401k, etc). - Large potential for growth, especially if you are looking for a technician job. They focus strongly on providing training. - A very driven workforce. Many of the project managers are solid, down-to-earth people.

Cons

- Work/life balance is mixed. I was required more than once to attend events outside work hours without pay. - Fairly high employee turnover. They've lost almost half their workforce since the beginning of 2019 and have been hiring like crazy to compensate. - They will expect a lot of you, even if you're a new employee. - The CEO has an abrasive personality. He claims that he is seeking to sort out conflict through sensible discussion, but often times you'll find that he's simply attacking your character. - At the time of writing, the company culture feels stressed. A lot of projects are on backlog and as a result there's a big push for things to get finished. This has created a lot of unspoken tension and is fostering an atmosphere of discontent.
