Pros

- Compensation is solid for non-entry level employees. - Professional development allowance - Flexible Work from home (pre-pandemic) - Snacks in the office (pre-pandemic) - Casual dress code - Flexible PTO

Cons

- The management team was/is very young and inexperienced when it came to leading and directing teams. - Management did/does NOT like to be challenged or critiqued. Regardless of if you're an employee, a customer, or third party business partner; if you don't like it: TOUGH. - If VPs or Directors fail to meet goals, they were never held accountable. It was always the employee's failure. - The nepotism at SingleOps was a very real problem. Managers would hire or appoint friends and force other, more tenured, employees out. - There are a number of employees, even to this day, that are in roles that should require a significantly higher level of business experience and acumen. In other words: a lot of employees within the "in crowd" got there based on tenure, not merit. - Employee and Manager quarterly performance reviews were meaningless and unenforced by HR. - For such a small/young company, it was very siloed and becoming increasingly vertical. - Micromanagement ranged from: managers monitoring calls to policing what words you can/cannot say. - Job descriptions never matched the job responsibilities and expectations. - The workplace culture was the most toxic out of any company I've [personally] ever worked for. Passive aggression, back-stabbing, throwing teammates under the bus - it was a poisonous environment. - Constructive and valid customer feedback, especially about the product, was routinely met with gaslighting and dismissiveness. - Though SingleOps claims "We Before Me" is a core value, given the culture and environment, it's very much a "Me Before We" type of workplace. - You could go weeks, even months, without hearing back from your colleagues on action items, emails, messages, and so on. - You are required, to some degree, to work weekends. - Health and medical insurance (along with retirement) benefits were among the worst I've ever had. - Technical and product teams had a "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality when managing product. - I could go on but I believe I've made my cons clear...

So bad.

Pros

A white man who plays bro code well enough or can participate in an absurd level of nepotism would probably do fine (though he would make more elsewhere).

Cons

Bad health insurance. Disgusting level of bro culture. Even for sales. Not a place for women to be promoted. And definitely a place where all the black women get fired or leave after being mistreated. Also the pay is terribly substandard. Implementation takes months. Insurance is horrific and expensive. I would strongly reconsider an offer if you have any medical concerns. I can't say anything bad about specific people in this review for it to be approved, but if you are in sales development, your managers will probably be under-qualified and on power trips. Speak to former employees on LinkedIn and get the real story.

SingleOps Response
5y
Hi - Thank you so much for your feedback. While I’m really sorry to hear your experience seems to have been so negative to date, we really appreciate you taking the time to give feedback and help us improve. I wanted to respond to a couple of your comments to provide some further data. We encourage you to reach out to People Ops if you have any further questions or comments. “Not a place for women to be promoted” Our employee base is 30% female today and in the past 12 months 38% of promotions have been female employees. We are promoting a higher percentage of female employees than male employees. “Bad health insurance.. Horrific and expensive.. Reconsider if you have medical concerns” We have offered health insurance plans through Humana for 2+ years (and other carriers prior to that), including a variety of plans to meet the needs of different employees and different family situations. We announced in the quarterly meeting on April 6th that we are significantly increasing the company’s contributions to premiums, and as of June 2021 will be paying 100% of the employee premium on our base plan. We have increased contributions for all other plans as well. So, for many employees health insurance will not only be less expensive, it will be completely free. We provide complete benefits information in the later stages of our recruitment process if requested, and are happy to answer any questions from prospective employees. Your comments about racism we take very, very seriously and ask that you please speak to People Ops about your experience so that we can get more context than is possible over Glassdoor.

Pros

The job is solid, the platform is great, the clients are awesome, but management loves getting in the way.

Cons

Management is a joke. They are bad at what they try to do.
