Pros

Gain skills in cake decorating, make fresh ice-creams, and cool coworkers. Plus you get to take home any "day old" products. Food is delicious, and the environment is so cute.

Cons

New store, bosses overlook how hard everyone works. Changes keep happening to the store without notice, staff is kept in the dark until their shift starts, then it's "by the way we are doing this now". Everyone is over worked. The bakers get in at 4 or 5 am everyday, then are told to stay longer than the scheduled shift ends, just to work on new products when they have already finished their hour shifts. They don't even bake from scratch, it comes from a pre-mixed formula that corporate sends. The decorators are constantly making cupcakes thru the day and are told to make other products on top of that. They are not allowed to leave unless all the tasks are done, but some people leave the kitchen as a pig sty. Also the frosting isn't fresh either, it comes in tubs sent from corporate. The cashiers are in constant confusion, always asking what is in the current cupcake specials, and little knowledge about the ingredients, they have little information about parties at the store, they have little to no idea ho to take down a phone order. And they are making tip money, when they do not: bake the cupcakes, decorate, make ice cream, or make any other products in store. Cross Training: every one is cross trained upon getting hired, but no one helps each other unless we are slammed in the front of house, no one helps the back of house. There are no scheduled breaks. I have witnessed from multiple people that there is no designated lunch break, it is an "eat and work" kind of mentality. Unless there is someone there to actually cover your butt, you are to busy to go on a lunch. I have witnessed many coworkers go an entire 8+ hour shift without eating anything, they get crabby and dizzy. I have also seen a coworker almost pee herself because she could not leave the front counter because "there are to many people, you cant leave".

Pros

Really great regular customers. When you come in on an opening shift you are there alone and can lock the doors and play music as loud as you want while baking.

Cons

New franchise owner honestly does not care about anyone but himself. Manager talks to people however she wants even though everyone busts their butts for her. If you think you're safe on your day off you're wrong...you'll always have to come in early or on your day off to cover for someone or just have to deal with the manager texting you all day complaining. Nobody wants to work or clean up after themselves and the few people like me who did were basically closing shift janitors. No room to move up in company. Nobody appreciates you. You don't get paid wages that are promised. Somebody is always watching you on cameras and is ready to complain about every little thing. Safety concerns - You always close at night ALONE and if someone comes in and swindles you out of money you have to fill the drawer with your own personal money before you leave that night. They care about money, not the staff repeatedly put in danger.
