Pros

Great coworkers. Culture of community involvement is appreciated.

Cons

Sales culture is completely understandable, however, retention is also very important. Those working in client retention are under appreciated. No follow through on promises, too many initiatives that fail to see the light of day. Sales culture allows sales people to get away with behavior that would never be tolerated in other organizations.

Pros

Convenient location. Friendly coworkers. New hires are treated very well and given attention. Company reimburses expenses and allows for professional development with approval by manager.

Cons

Continuous cutbacks on resources which creates a high volume of work ~ expect a 60 hour workweek. Middle Managers are at the mercy of the operations team and objectives are constantly changing. Metrics based operation where expectations change with no explanations. Raises and reviews are not provided systematically.

Smith Brothers Insurance Response

As always, we appreciate any constructive feedback we can get and encourage all team members to use our Employee Development Process (EDP) and the relationship with their manager to work through things that are bothering them. If, for some reason, the EDP process isn’t addressing concerns, we encourage team members to take it to another manager or leader in the organization. We utilize regional and national benchmarks to make sure team members have a total compensation package that supports their specific role and the amount of business they support. Our business like many others is cyclical and, at times, requires extra hours to meet the needs of our clients. This is not the norm as we strongly believe in flexible work arrangements and life balance. We are concerned with the impression we are cutting resources and not supporting service roles, as this is not the case. We are a growing firm and are constantly analyzing which resources are needed to achieve business, team and individual goals and we invest above industry standard in professional and personal development and wellbeing for all roles across the organization.
