Pros

- not much OT/crunch - friendly co-workers - decent salary

Cons

CEO has been dragging the internal project on for way too long, and the project should have cancelled years ago. This project is massively outdated and will not perform well if it's ever released. A theory is that the project is being dragged on intentionally so the CEO is perceived of having some sort of value to the company. CEO also has trust issues and keeps employees/projects from reaching full potential. CEO is also the "Creative Director", giving them too much control over the direction of design. Lead Designers do not have any creative freedom and report directly to him and basically just follow his misguided direction.

Small company, bright people

Pros

- Very skilled and dedicated team members - Good work/life balance practices, reasonable hours - Great location

Cons

- Overcontrolling upper management with serious delegation issues: "leads" are given little to no real responsibility, all decisions must be ratified by directors - The 3 directors want to sit in on and approve every major meeting for new projects, severely slowing development as their availability bottlenecks everything - Project management tools are Excel and a 10-year-old version of JIRA - Predictable cons of any small company: limited advancement, somewhat gerryrigged infrastructure

Stifiling and Oppressive

Pros

Some of the people who work there are talented and great colleagues

Cons

Three co-owners who are all Type A personalities who often override decisions without respecting those who made them. Leads/Managers suffer under the oppressive environment and face unwarranted criticism. Information about aspects of a project are on a as-needed basis.
