Pros

Acquired experience in a fast-paced environment, swiftly developing resilience. Additionally, had the privilege of collaborating with large clients.

Cons

The level of micromanagement within this company is truly astonishing. Autonomy is a rare luxury, as your day is planned by someone else, down to the specific hours of the day. What's more, if a task requires more time than initially planned, you're obligated to provide detailed justifications- like being back in school. Tasks often come your way without much recognition or even basic acknowledgment. Abrupt removal from projects is also common, leaving your mental well-being compromised and casting doubt on your professional abilities. The expectation to work overtime without compensation or time off is the norm. Don't expect great salary reviews. Even when they do occur, they fall woefully short of keeping pace with the rising cost of living. The so-called 'cost of living bonus' feels like a mockery in the face of the real challenges posed by the increasing cost of living crisis. This predicament affects everyone, not solely those who dedicate their efforts to the cause at Social Chain through extended working hours. Burnout inevitably becomes a part of your journey with Social Chain. This stems from their practice of not replacing the workforce after departures, pursuing large clients despite being aware of their inability to meet the demands, and placing a heavy reliance on employees to put in overtime hours.

Pros

The company has a vibrant team of young, fun, and creative individuals. We work with some fantastic clients who have substantial budgets. Plus, there’s a complimentary lunch every Thursday.

Cons

Working at this company gave me severe anxiety and panic attacks. I typically don’t write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience working here. Below are the reasons why I would not recommend this company. When I joined SC, I was extremely excited and ready to work hard. However, within less than two weeks, I noticed a culture that didn’t promote work-life balance. It’s the norm to stay in the office past 6:30 PM, and senior management frequently messages employees about work matters past 9 PM. No matter how much effort you put in, if senior management doesn’t like you, they make your life miserable. It feels as if they want you to fail. It’s the most toxic workplace I’ve ever encountered. The company is poorly run, with most staff complaining about burnout. Even when you’re sick, you’re expected to work, and taking a sick day results in penalties. Many staff members feel undervalued, underpaid, and overworked. Much of the day is spent on calls discussing matters that don’t advance the company, and you’re expected to multitask, which is highly inefficient. The company hires a large number of freelancers, leading to a lack of cohesive culture and constant turnover. Senior management is unsupportive and quick to place blame when things go wrong, making you feel awful despite your best efforts. Constantly fighting for resources to complete client work is a norm. There is a significant turnover of permanent staff, who are all being replaced by freelancers. Even on annual leave, you receive work-related texts, preventing you from fully switching off. Questioning company practices puts a target on your back, and job security is non-existent. Clients frequently leave due to a lack of resources, but the blame falls on account managers.

Pros

- Dogs in the office - Nice Central Manchester Office location - Flexible working hours

Cons

- Staff turnover is so high, if they don't like you they will happily fire you with no valid reason - Too many fake promises before starting employment, I had very high expectations but nothing was followed through - Very immature and unsupportive HR team - Social Chain do not listen to staff, they just spend money on parties and events as a cover up - Crazy amount of pressure, when you need help with your workload it isn't available as everyone is 'too busy' - Cliquey culture, you could be great at your job but it won't be good enough - go elsewhere where your personality and skills are genuinely appreciated.
