Perfect work-life balance, but pitiful return

Pros

> Relaxed attitude (e.g. no dress code, clock in when you want). > Opportunities to play football and use the gym during lunch. > The game. Working on such a famous title in the video games industry. > Fantastic atmosphere and banter within some teams.

Cons

> Starting salaries are terrible and never improve as loyalty counts for nothing. Much much more lucrative to on-board as an experienced hire. > Direction of the game isn't democratic. Everyone gets a vote in feature meetings but ideas are only considered great if the studio director thinks so. > Developers can be pushed to breaking point during crunch periods just to ensure certain features make it into the final release - regardless of a loss in quality. > Salary structure has lost all perspective. It's kind of like Barcelona paying reserve team players £5k a week, first team players £50k a week, but then having Messi, Neymar, and Suarez all on £500k a week. But of course, the management would think this is normal.

Pros

1) Market Leader in their section of games industry 2) Getting to work on some cutting edge technology 3) Brilliant team of co-workers

Cons

1) Ridiculous crunch times year in and year out, due to consistent over ambition from senior management. 2) Low software quality upon release, in many people opinion, due to so much work being done under stress and duress and unsocial hours of the day. Leading to all products being faulty and buggy upon release.
