Pros

I genuinely can't give anyone a good reason to work for this company. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time here.

Cons

This was truly one of the most awful work experiences I've ever had. This company is run by a person with literally zero communication skills, no idea how to manage people, and genuinely does not care about the people he hires and how his decisions affect them and their lives. In the last year, they have fired an absurd number of employees, (and there are only 18 people working here ) and had no legitimate reason for firing any of them. They were all excellent hard working people that any company would be lucky to have. Their decision to keep you or fire you, is completely arbitrary. I am not exaggerating when I say that more than once during my time here, they walked into an employee's office while they were preparing for a meeting, told that person it was their last day and escorted them out of the building with no explanation. This is wrong on so many levels. They treat their employees like they are their most disposable asset. If that weren't bad enough, management has created a suffocating environment of toxic positivity. Employees walks around on eggshells and only speak when spoken to. The only thing safe to talk about without fear of consequence is how much you love StoragePug. Additionally, their job postings are very misleading. if you see a StoragePug job posting on LinkedIn, you'll notice they advertise that PTO starts on day 1. This is absolutely false. They make you accrue your PTO two days at a time and you start with 0 hours of paid time off. (You're also pretty likely to get fired before you even use any of it). Also you'll notice they advertise their FUN awesome culture with snacks, etc, etc..Like most tech startups, they do this to distract you from the low salaries, lack of upward mobility, and horrible management. There is no established structure for pay raises and their salaries are much lower than industry standard. Like most of the rest of the decisions made by this company, your pay is also totally arbitrary. Also, I'm 100% positive at least one of those first two 5 star reviews are written by management. So don't be fooled like I was this. Management is going to run this company into the ground. This company embodies everything that's wrong with startup culture. Don't waste your time at StoragePug.

Pros

- The office dog - I truly enjoyed my job & working with my clients

Cons

When it comes down to it, the cons all centralize around the owners. The company is ran by 3 young guys with absolutely no people or management skills. They will make decisions on a whim & expect everyone to follow blindly. Anybody who questions them is looked down upon & will literally be bullied by grown men (or fired). Their egos bruise very easily and they do not know how to separate their pride from their business. They’ve created a toxic micromanaged work environment with a very selective attendance policy (aka if they don’t like you, you better not show up 1 minute late). They will always expect you to work overtime and if you don’t, you’re not a team player. They have high ideals for themselves and what they think their culture is, but their culture is purely toxic. This company is ran by 3 white males & that is 99% of who they hire. There is NO diversity. The gender discrimination that I had to deal with from the owners, was beyond anything I have ever experienced. I was called “blunt” & “aggressive” on a regular basis by the owners. I watched women get written up for no reason & fired soon after, all because the owners didn’t like them. Women cannot and will not advance their careers here. They will gaslight you and convince you that you are the problem, when in reality, they were the most toxic people I have ever worked for. The turnover rate is extreme and there is simply no job security. You could walk in one day & be fired randomly. I watched several of my former coworkers experience this & it was absolutely devastating to watch. They treat their employees as if they are disposable with no regards to the real lives they have negatively impacted. And although I quit, over half of the employees that were there on my first day (around 20 ish), were fired within my short 10 months at storagepug. If they don’t like you, they will fire you without any reasonable explanation. Every time there is a negative review on Glassdoor, the owners will try to add 5 star reviews to bump up the average. If you look, there are several reviews from the same day. No one has EVER left storagepug and had ANYTHING positive to say. You do the math.

Dear former Pug, I'd like to thank you for taking my call. You had no obligation to talk to me, but you did anyway. Thank you for doing that. Our conversation has helped me process the comments you left here on Glassdoor. I'm glad you enjoyed working with Betty and the interactions with our clients. We were quite happy with your job performance and celebrated your "get stuff done" mentality with a 40% salary increase within your first 10 months. Your mischaracterization that StoragePug is run by "3 white males" really surprised me. As a first-generation Vietnamese immigrant, I'm proud to be a part of the diversity here at StoragePug. We're lucky to have a strong team of Pugs from all experiences, backgrounds, and cultures. I encourage you to look back at your former teammates and reconsider your comment that 99% of them were "white males." While things didn't work out here at StoragePug, I'm confident you're doing well in your new endeavors. You have an open invitation to continue our phone call anytime. My line is 865-413-4050.

Pros

You get a tee shirt.

Cons

This was the worst job experience I have had in 15 years. - Extreme Toxic Positivity from management - Management would instigate arguments over public slack channels (management would be in the same room as other people and would still continue the "disagreement" on Slack rather than in person) - In the time I was employed, the company had more than a 50% turnover rate with their employees. I have worked at some toxic places in the past (homophobic, sexist, etc.) non of them compare to how toxic StoragePug is. The toxic positivity at StoragePug was very real. Management was overly nice to my face. In reality, they were really just non-confrontational and extremely passive aggressive. Management had horrible communication skills which created a very fake work environment which led to massive levels of paranoia. I have never worked for a company that is led by management so comfortable with lying to their employees. The only feedback I ever received from management was "You're doing great, let me know if you need anything". I heard that from the day I was hired until the day before I was arbitrarily fired. Also, when someone was fired, they would tell the company either "we had many meetings about this and the person that was fired was not surprised by this," OR that the person quit, even though they were fired. For future client success specialists looking at this job: In the time I was there, the client success team had the least amount of impact on product, despite being the closest to the customers. It was more of a support team style customer success.

Hey there! The workplace you described is a terrible, awful place to work. I wouldn’t want to work there either. We started StoragePug as an escape from toxic work environments. We wanted to create a fun, positive place where people can do their best work. Admittedly, we’ve had some growing up to do, but lying to people seems like a wild claim and frankly bad for business. We’ve had some tremendous people quit for new opportunities, and unfortunately we’ve had to let others go who didn’t fit in. It never crossed my mind to tell a different story about why someone is no longer here. If you’re up for it, I’d love to share a coffee or lunch with you. You have an open invite. Text or call me anytime: 865-413-4050 Thanks for taking the time, Tommy
