Pros

I really like working at Storj for a number of reasons. Working on distributed cloud storage makes for lots of interesting and challenging projects that make work fun. Management prioritizes our goals and professional development. There are very few meetings so I can spend my days actually getting work done. It's refreshing! There is no micromanagement, we are all trusted to get our work done the right way. I like all of my coworkers, there are lots of experienced and smart engineers and everyone is kind. Leadership is very ethical and honest. They genuinely care about all employees and about doing the right thing.

Cons

Recently there has been a strong push for everyone to accept 20% or more of our salary in cryptocurrency. Additionally we lost our 401k match (6%). I hope in the future we don't rely as heavily on cryptocurrency and that we can start the 401k match again.

Pros

My time at Storj has been relatively short, but so far I have been extremely impressed by the company and the team. Everyone at the company is passionate about decentralization and leading the industry in this emerging trend. I've worked in storage, open source and enterprise software for 8+ years, and Storj is by far the most innovative and forward-thinking company I've ever worked for. The company is one of the few blockchain/decentralized application companies with a working product. The pay and benefits are great. The company offers bonuses in STORJ tokens, its own form of cryptocurrency. Regular lunches and other perks as well. Self-starters have a lot of opportunity to champion initiates internally. Really smart leadership team - especially with Ben Golub, former Docker CEO, at the helm. Very collaborative environment.

Cons

The product works, but is still very early and still has a long way to go. Not a good environment for people who are not self-starters or are waiting to be told what to do. Team is somewhat spread out so using tools to bridge the distance is key.
