Pros

The store I worked in all of the team members were a blast to work with. The training courses I was sent on were very interesting and useful. Most of the head office team were a pleasure to speak to on the phone and were helpful.

Cons

Work load was not evenly distributed. The Commission structure was pretty poor for stores that didn't get a lot of foot traffic and really favoured stores in more centralised areas.

Pros

Working with Apple products and was able to find good friends at this store. I have met some of the nicest people at this company.

Cons

Pay below the minimum wage at £6.08ph and the job roles increase every month. You be selling, offering free technical support, teach and repair iPhones with no informal training. Also company standard to offer fantastic customer service. Lastly with pay their is commission but that all depends on how much you sell. Poor head office and managers who expect you to be a robot for this god for saking company. Little or no breaks as I had managers say that a break is you eating a sandwich and drinking a coke. The list can go on.

Pros

You get to work with Apple products The people you work with in the stores are usually good bunch. Staff discount isn't too bad.

Cons

The company don't evenly minimum wage - Part time sales staff are on £6.08 an hour and expected earn commission just to make it up to mimimim wage. Full time staff are on £6.70 and the company is refusing to pay the 'living wage' on the same argument. What they fail to take into account is that the staff they are affecting were earning that commission before and it is now just being used to save the company a few pounds. This kind of approach is pretty common place. Commission structures as a whole have been eroded over the last couple of years so we are all earning less as well. Everyone's contract states that they get an annual pay review, this has never happen in the years I have been with the company so the Managers and Deputy's are on a very uncompetitive salary. Deputy managers salaries are typically under £16k and managers under £19k. Deputies are expected to sell as a sales person too so they have to earn commission on top as well as doing the DM role. Mangers don't get commission, there's a patchy bonus scheme that adds about £3k to your OTE, but even if you hit your targets, there's no garuntee that you'll keep your bonus as other factors can be used to reduce it by upto 75%! Alongside this point blank refusal to pay staff a fair income, we are now expected to do more and more things for the same money. As if training customers, providing unlimited free tech support and having to sell to meet targets wasn't enough, you now have to repair / inspect iPhones (despite no formal training) and a load of other stuff. All the stores seem to be overworked as there is a strong drive to keep staffing costs low so they understaff the stores and just expect everyone to work harder. Lunchbreaks?! Forget it - 5 minutes to eat a sandwich if you are lucky. For those of us that might want to tough it out for the hope of career progression, that's a non starter too. You can get from sales to Deputy manager ok, maybe even on to store manager - but then nothing else will happen. There is no development plan, no process to further your career- just a dead end.
