  1. "A company that is being mismanaged into oblivion"

I have been working at Summit Polymers

    Pros

Easy to get a job, decent benefits, okay wage, hard to get fired.

    Cons

Management is filled with everything from toxic philanderers to utterly incompetent petty micro tyrants. From the supervisors on the floor found in various compromising situations, such as drug use and adultery to out right abuse, to higher ups who come in with hang overs and fight employees. They also refuse to do something about long time employees who are disruptive or do literal sabotage. Their lower ranks, such... as engineers and assembly workers, often stay for a few months or years then leave for far greener pastures. Often there is little to no training when you are put in a new position And they go as far as to get temps.

    Advice to Management

Burn down your whole management structure and rebuild it from the grown up. Hire competent people people with relevant degrees or experience for their job. Let go of people who a almost literally dead weight or cancerous blights. If you don’t this company will not last.

I have been working at Summit Polymers full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Growing company with decent people, steady relationships with clients

    Cons

Growing pains, struggling to modernize some core issues due to multi-generational ownership.

    Advice to Management

Keep fighting the good fight! Eventually she'll take this company far, and he'll figure out he should put full faith in her abilities, and simply enjoy what time he has left with his family and friends, proud of all he's built.

    Pros

Stable company, if you're looking to stay at a place for 30 years and retire...summit will do that for you.

    Cons

    - Very Old Company structure - Not tailored to recruit younger employees - Super cheap (the solution will work for now, but you'll have more headache in the long run) - Low ball , underaverage salary - Upper Management is isolated from plant engineers - Office has no natural light - Pay for coffee - No flex work, no work from home, come to the office, do your "9" hours and go home, simple.

    Advice to Management

    - Adapt and change the company to move to a more modern to attract and maintain younger talent - Listen to your employees

I worked at Summit Polymers full-time

    Pros

No overtime, pay was fair for my role, benefits were reasonably priced!

    Cons

Very outdated in their thought process on many things and some of their computer systems were sooo outdated. Minimal employee appreciation. Definitely a manufacturing/automotive culture where everything is about production and not the people. Although it’s awesome that a majority of the leadership team has been with the company for 20+ years, I think it’s also holding the company back from making the changes they... need to as people are now “comfortable.”

I have been working at Summit Polymers

    Pros

They have taught me so much. Good work work vs personal life balance.

    Cons

Advancement opportunities are fewer than some other similar company's. Plant culture is not the best.

    Advice to Management

More development of current employees to move them into better roles. This would also help the culture.

I have been working at Summit Polymers

    Pros

Good benefits Some managers are great to work with Good work/life balance most the time Not bad for career building experience

    Cons

No accountability, poor communication between departments and management. Best employees are always asked to clean up messes but reciev no recognition. Minimal training given across the board. No attempts at showing employee appreciation, no interest in retaining talent. Tech center facility is in bad shape.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so cheap on everything, it always ends up costing more in the long run and is just a hassle to employees. Actually try to reward success and retain talent. Give more sick days or remote work options. Give proper training and it will pay off.
