I have been working at Swiss Re full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

It has an amazing focus on skills and people development - and does not hesitate to invest in employee training and growth You are empowered to own your way of working, timing and career. Have been with the organisation for over 10 years and the intellectual stimulation my job provides; career opportunities ; absolute empowerment and the great minds i get to work with is what has kept me engaged.

    Cons

You need to be self driven and take ownership for your career - there are no open promotion programmes It is a heavily matrixed organisation which means it is an environment where only those able to get things done through influence and creating a movement can thrive. I can imagine this can be a difficult situation for some

    Advice to Management

There are a lot of things that make this a great workplace (if you are being reasonable and not expecting an organisation to be heaven) .. however the organization does not do a great job of talking about it and advertising it enough.

I worked at Swiss Re full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Only one thing - office space. Just good interiors

    Cons

quality of leaders and their style of management is the most inhuman and illogical one. They care for nothing but their own pockets. All are nothing more than egoistic pigs. A big collection of backstabbers. Be prepared to handle and play big time politics because that's the only way to survive and climb up the ladder here.

    Advice to Management

    Shut down Bangalore office

I worked at Swiss Re full-time

    Pros

Good interiors and food. Convenient location

    Cons

Horrible management.. politics is the second name for Swiss re bangalore.. nepotism everywhere. Managers only favour their friends and bully the hard working talent.. that’s why we see people leave. HR is waste.. they and management are hand and glove. Don’t bother listening to the employees. Management is a bunch of illiterate donkeys who instill fear in people. Own the way you work is a joke. People are micromanaged...

Don’t promote people for the sake of promotion.. most team leaders are incompetent. they can teach politics to some of the best politicians in the country. Writing review here since you didn’t bother listening to me when I was in the company

I worked at Swiss Re full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Only office interiors are good. If you love to gossip, don't want a career but just want to earn money, you can join here.

    Cons

Not suitable for women employees. Workplace harassment is very prevalent. Dirty politics, spineless and unethical leadership, worse HR, unprofessional local leadership, useless Zurich teams, toxic and hostile work environment. Bangalore is run by a group of friends who think its their family business and not a billion dollar reputed 150+ years old. No value for employee's skill set and honesty. Slow decision making....

I worked at Swiss Re full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1. Work life balance is good but again not in all the functions. 2. Manage the way you want to work they call this own the way you work.

    Cons

    1. There isn't a clear strategy for hiring people. They open a position without giving any thought and close it without realizing how employees are affected especially when employee moves with family. 2. The matrix structure is so complicated that there isn't any alignment between what your functional partners working outside bangalore with whom you work think vs local management. They have divergent expectations affecting...

I have been working at Swiss Re full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work Life Balance is great at Swiss Re. There is flexibility in work hours. Micromanagement is very minimal to nil. A very good state of the art workplace. The culture of the organisation is really good

    Cons

Very poor payer. I work for Technical Accounting and there is absolutely no growth in the department. They have unrealistic expectations out of the employees.

    Advice to Management

Better Payment. Equal opportunities to people who deserve. Less politics
