Pros

- new building - good hardware for devs - stock options - easy for Jr. Devs to get foot in the door - opportunities for growth

Cons

Sr. Software Developers, I feel a moral obligation to let you know what you will be getting yourself into when joining TaskEasy. The development team is very Jr. Level. Management wants it that way because they pride themselves on producing features that add value to clients with a discounted labor force. They also invest in a business/education partnership where students, not employees, get to work on the "cool" projects while employees wade through legacy code that is slowly destroying their souls. They are also actively working to outsource work to other countries to achieve the same goal. These can be good strategies for companies who are excellent at communication and mentorship. TaskEasy can't even effectively manage the Jr. Devs under their own roof though. The stack is in a pretty dismal state. This is actually one of the things that got me excited at the opportunity to join with TaskEasy. I saw an opportunity to help a company who was ready to take their company from startup to an enterprise-architecture. It became apparent very quickly that not only were they not working to address wildly expensive problems in their development process, they didn't even really see them as problems. The crippling technical debt is growing faster than they are paying it off. Sr. Developers who see the rocks ahead are trying to steer leadership in the right direction but leadership is full-steam ahead so Dev Managers and Sr. Devs are abandoning ship left and right. If you are a Sr. Developer ask a LOT of questions in your interviews to make sure you are ready to navigate the political battles alongside what you expect to be working on.

We appreciate the feedback. We do our best to be transparent during the interviews and prepare the candidates for the opportunities and possible barriers that lay ahead - it is not in our interest to deceive the talent we seek to recruit. Fast-paced market and rapid growth are some of the challenges that we need to overcome as a successful startup; that's why we look for talent that can be both adaptable and patient. As our company grows, the small-scale business and tech solutions have to be adjusted and sometimes replaced; however, with the increasing demand, it’s the matter of prioritizing and deciding what has to be done first. We ask all our employees to be patient during the company’s period of fast growth. We want to reassure you that our developers are aware of the challenges that lay ahead of them, and they plan and prepare accordingly. We grow and adapt fast - just recently we implemented changes in leadership and structure of our development team to be more productive and efficient. We are sorry, that the job didn’t live up to your expectations - being a developer in a startup is a challenging task, and we understand that some people will not be comfortable with the job.

Executive overreach bogs things down from time to time.
