Pros

Best agency in the business, incredible rolodex of clients (past and present), and you get to work with/ learn from such smart people. If you have Outcast on your resume you'll go far.

Cons

Higher ups play favorites, no transparency with the review and promotion process, not great benefits, no say in how you're staffed, terrible work-life balance.

Pros

I worked for OutCast for 3.5 years. I have nothing good to say - this place is simply a horrible work environment. It was like high school all over again. The worst part is the people. They think they're better than everyone else (every other agency, everyone below them). Potentionally the only, small pro is the new office space, but even that doesn't make up for the miserable work environment, nonexistent work/life balance and nightmare of a CEO, Alex Constantinople. She's the worst.

Cons

I pride myself on being a talented, hungry, curious PR professional. I've worked at top rated firms prior to OC, on top tier clients. But working at OC made me dispose everything about this industry, my clients, myself and most of all, OutCast itself. I left in early 2015 and wish to god I had made that decision sooner. You will have absolutely no life outside of work so don't count on making plans, keeping friends, or doing anything except being expected to work 16 hours/day, including most weekends. Now that OutCast is behind me I can see with some clarity what a mistake working here was. Don't make the same mistake I did. DO NOT WORK HERE!!

Pros

The client roster is obviously good and is what attracts a lot of people; big names like Facebook, Spotify, Instagram and Jawbone add a nice touch to your resume.

Cons

There is a reason this place has as many negative reviews as it does. My experience at OC was absolutely awful. If you somehow manage to find yourself wanting to work here to get some good clients on your resume, here's what to expect: Do not trust anyone. No one is your friend (as charming as they may come off in interviews and your first few weeks). They are all out for themselves and do not care about you or what you have to say. You MUST become a robot - separate yourself and passions from this job, otherwise you will fail (this is absolutely key). The problem is not the people (most of them are awesome), the problem is management. Why? In my experience, there was no management. They were either impossible to track down, and when they were present, their focus was to humiliate you in front of the team or client to validate their roles and appear to be the "hero" under all circumstances. Someone else said that there is a coven of witches who find people to target and that is so dead on, I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that - I'm not crazy! Now, there are some managers at OC that seem totally cool, so if you land in with them, you should be good. Also, you might notice that the only people that have been there for as long as they have started as associates. There's a reason here. OC will always have its core team - the people who have been there for 4+ years. They will not trust anyone outside of this core team and if you aren't a masochist, you will not survive (no joke). They thrive on leading through a sadistic approach, so be prepared to be whipped over and over again (without the actual whip, of course). During my time at OC, I did not sleep, I had no personal life and cried pretty much every day. If that's not prison, I don't know what is.
