Pros

working with alot of animals

Cons

very political. They only want to hear what they expected to hear, animal care workers are at the lowest class at THS whom have no right to speak up/defend themselves. There are only 2 types of employees, the supervisors favorite and unfavorite. The supervisors have too much power, they can scream, yell at you if they dont like you and will give you more work as punishment, unfavourite employees can get warnings for something that everybody else does. The big boss put partial amount of money from donations into his own pocket, there was a donation from a family which was a big amount of money, the boss took 10% from it.

Pros

Working with animals Good team of workers

Cons

Management The shelter managers and supervisors act like they are running a prison. The work is hard at times but is very rewarding. I do not believe they take the time to appreciate the work of the animal care workers in the shelter. I remember one instance of the then assistant manager yelling at me because I forgot to clean a cage out. I seriously almost lost my cool. Thick skin and a love for what you are doing sometimes is not enough to get through the day. People end up taking a lot of sick time to get a break from the cruel attitudes of the management staff who believe they are above you.

Pros

The animals of course, this is why good people are drawn here and continue to work here. Those who work directly with them are mostly all wonderful, caring and dedicated people. Head veterinary staff are exceptional. Animal care workers and vet techs are compassionate and very hard-working. The volunteers are amazing. If you take the time to spend time with the animals and get to know the staff who work with them directly you hear some wonderful success stories, and can see first-hand the great work being done on their behalf. Some highly capable and dedicated people working in admin positions and with the public( although their skills are never fully utilised).

Cons

Corrupt upper management/HR/ CEO/COO Extreme nepotism and politics Unqualified/ incapable and lazy management who take credit for work they have not done, and spend most of their time trying to find ways to legally mistreat those who report to them Culture of fear/ people are afraid to speak up Chronic HR issues - HR is actually a joke, and everyone who works there knows this Bullying/ scare tactics Poor treatment of lowest earning staff Donors are being misled and having their money wasted by upper management
