Pros

-Mission of helping homeless and working cats throughout Chicagoland. -Many coworkers were a joy to be around. -New building and VWC suite.

Cons

-Fundraisers beware, Tree House seemed unprepared for any significant fundraising activity. The database was incorrectly implemented, there are no fundraising portfolios, no built gift opportunities or prospects, and whatever metrics and goals are not rooted in data but are completely arbitrary. -At least from my own experience, I was not onboarded or trained for my role, and my experience was very-much a trial by fire which negatively colored my whole experience. -Morale across all teams was very low, evident by the long working hours, frequently understaffed teams, and low compensation (low even for nonprofit work). A gossiping and toxic culture, mixed with the low morale, leads directly to burnout and resentment.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your time at Tree House. We’re sorry you didn't have a great experience during your time here, and it's true that working at Tree House isn't for everyone. We are blessed to have a loyal and growing base of support and a strong track record of success. We continue to improve and develop our programs, and we ask staff to be comfortable with ambiguity and approach their work with an entrepreneurial spirit. We also recognize that the staff who thrive at Tree House build positive connections, lead with accountability, and operate honestly and respectfully. Related to your comments on technology, compensation, and onboarding, we are working hard in these areas and are looking to invest resources and launch new strategic initiatives to enhance them. Thank you again for taking the time to leave this review and we wish you the best in your career.

Terrible Pay, Worse Treatment

Pros

Work with animals Support a good cause Work alongside a great team (excluding management)

Cons

Be very wary of applying to a company with so many openings, as there is often a reason employees are fleeing. Upper management all make $100K+ while their entry level employees struggle to pay bills due to the terrible wages with few opportunities for raises or advancement. If you work here you will have no quality of life, because you’ll be expected to work long hours doing demanding work while barely making above minimum wage. Employee well-being is one of the lowest priorities of this organization.
