Pros

If you enjoy working with Indigenous communities and are passionate in social-economic development, environmental enhancement regulatory, and language reclamation projects, then this job is for you. This is a great first step into the federal employee business game as you get experience and work directly with federal employees.

Cons

The salary is not comparable to the amount of work required for this position. You will work long hours during busy seasons. You will get taken advantage of your labor if you let them. It’s unfortunate that contractor salary is about $30k less than federal counterparts, for the doing the same amount, if not more, work. There is great turnover of federal contractors for this very reason.

Low pay, high turnover, extreme burnout

Work is meaningful but employees are overburdened and underpaid.

Cons

As a contractor you will be doing the exact same work as a federal staff member but for 40-50k less. The turnover is laughable as the entire team turns over every 2 to 3 years due to low pay and extreme burnout despite countless attempts by staff to bring up these issues. Leadership is aware of high turnover and low morale, but nothing has been done. Team members feel replaceable, and burnout is extremely high. As well as employees, unfortunately grant recipients bear the brunt of disfunction and high turnover.

Work is meaningful but the workload is so high and the compensation so low that employees ultimately burnout and leave

Cons

Extremely high turnover and toxic work environment; you are doing the same or more work than your federal counterparts and getting paid $40k less. Tribal Tech does not value employees and is not open to feedback. CEO makes it clear that pleasing the client is the only priority and you as a staff member are expendable and replaceable.
