Pros

Co workers, management and owners are all genuinely nice people who I enjoyed being around. Pretty good money most of the time. Great money from the end of November through the beginning of January. Flexible with time off requests. Laid back work environment.

Cons

Too many promos involving “free” drinks leading to people not leaving tips. (Nothing in life is free, but if they’re not physically exchanging money at the bar, people don’t think to pull money out to tip). It’s not the business fault that people don’t tip, but they could try and mitigate that issue better. Not enough advertising to try and get people in the door. This place is huge with lots of potential, but hasn’t done much to draw in a crowd since the pandemic.

DON'T WORK HERE

Pros

None. Yes I made some friends with my fellow employees but that's it.

Cons

This place is a very toxic environment. I did love the people I worked with but it's the management team that's awful. They don't care about you at all, they treated us like s**t and were terrible at communicating anything useful for us to do our job. They also play favorites even though the people who are favorites don't even do work and get away with it. They change the rules all the time and never tell us, yet we still get in trouble for it. They will treat you like human garbage. They gave me a pay increase above minimum yet when I signed my contract for it they didn't give me a copy and didn't pay me what was promised. They made false accusations about me and never got my side of the story because their petty. They let people smoke weed and vapes in the building and dont stop them. I told them weed makes me sick and I can't be around it, yet they made me work a buyout and within 20 minutes the building was hot boxed and I had to leave early because I had an awful panic attack and got sick from the weed. They won't let employees park in their huge parking lot and told us no one can yet the managers and their friends can. When we asked why we can't park there, it's always a different dumb excuse like "managers get here earlier and leave later" which is a lie because employees leave just as late as them. It's a really bad and dangerous neighborhood where people's cars got broken into on the back street where you can park...if you find parking. I was also promised a promition and when they announced who got promoted, they gave it to people who were way newer than I because they both complained about issues in the company and promoted them to keep them quiet. When I asked why I didn't get the promotion I was promised they said "you lean and turn your back to people" when ive seen that same manager leaning on games ON HIS PHONE. Yes my back was to people, its a 360 space theres no way to avoid that. During the holiday season, they told us you can't request any days off during December and will make you work a lot of these holiday parties for companies and different groups, but it would be nice if they gave the employees a holiday party for all of their hard work, which they never do. You will regret working here because they treat us like we're replaceable trash and will give you absolutely no respect. Your self worth is way better than this job and there are way better jobs out there that will respect you and treat you like you deserve.

Pros

The space itself has a ton of potential with an operating staff that has a lot of great ideas that sadly won't be followed through by the company. There are unique games you can't find anywhere else that are pretty neat. The actual job is fairly straightforward and not bad if you're comfortable working late. Loved giving customers a fun experience and getting strangers to play games together. It's really what you make of it and if you enjoy fast paced venues it's entertaining.

Cons

The business itself doesn't know what it really wants to be. There's a full open bar, but yet it isn't 21+ and advertises heavily to children and families. It advertises as a place with performance and alternate entertainment, when really it's just a barcade (not necessarily a bad thing). There's fast food styled food, but with restaurant prices. They want to be accessible, but have inaccessible parking (despite having a lot) and no elevators. When changes happen to pricing and ticketing, which is frequently, it often confuses us as staff as well as customers leaving many frustrated instead of having fun. There is a big disconnect between game developers and operations on the floor, resulting in games that don't get enough tlc, bad design decisions, and lack of feedback that doesn't allow existing games to improve or make way for better ideas in the future. Things are built as if they will never break, so servicing most of the in house games is a nightmare because it's hard to replace parts, difficult to gain access to internal components, and very difficult to make heads or tails of what's going on. HR is extremely unavailable and distant, making many not come forward about issues whether it be workplace harassment or concerns over manager-employee relationships. Many talks, workshops/info sessions were planned but never happened despite clear interest. Workers, except for managers and select famous guests, are not allowed to use the parking lot despite the fact we work until very late at night in downtown LA. Several of us who were unable to use the lot have had damage done to our cars and despite management seeming concerned for us to walk at night to our vehicles, the company doesn't care enough to offer that type of safety to (certain) workers. Overall, the business feels like the crypto enthusiast owners want to show off their cool toys instead of a place for visitors who actually want to have a good time.
