Pros

Overall pretty good benefits Free Credit classes toward a degree and Free Personal Enrichment classes . But you have to declare the amount on your taxes. Beautiful campus Retirement pension Medical benefits Interesting environment with lots of free lectures and events Free employee counseling to deal with the stress of working at UNM Lobo Perks- some discounts on local businesses (phone service, some local stores and businesses) Generous vacation time, including 7 days during the winter break, and 2 at Thanksgiving

Cons

Healthcare Benefits. The real cost has more than doubled in the past few years. Top-heavy, redundant management structure Patron mentality in upper management Skewed compensation and staffing. Upper management gets most of the $$ and freedom to hire whoever they want. Hiring freeze for everybody else. The burden of budget cuts goes onto everyday workers. Hiring freeze and broken systems make it impossibly to navigate the system unless you have $$ and influencel. The right hand frequently doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
