The worst job of my career

Pros

The mission is fascinating and important. The organization has been badly managed for years, so opportunities to make improvements abound.

Cons

Toxic leadership appears rampant. The commander (an Army Brigadier General) was irrational, paranoid, and abused his position. He accepted high praise from senior Army leadership for my contributions and accomplishments while not even acknowledging anything I did. Rather, he continually abused, berated, and scrutinized me. The stress caused by this general was far greater than by enemy attacks. His behavior combined with his appointment as a general officer indicates a serious cultural and leadership problem. His racism was clear to all (he's African-American). Others who worked under him were also toxic leaders.
