Red tape, micromanagement, government procedures that hinder progress. Upward mobility extremely limited. lazy workers that want to talk on the phone and text instead of work and then complain that they cant catch up.
Being in the federal government does offer a rather secure job. The staff are treated decently and the work week typically never exceeds 40 hours/week.
Cons
No pay raises for cost of living in years and none on the horizon. Pay may not be comparable with similar jobs in big companies. You have to deal with a lot of red tape to get anything done involving senior leadership.
