Pros

I refer to the training at the start of the year as "teacher bootcamp" it was highly informative and appropriately intensive. They provide supports through co-teachers, coaches, and supportive admin.

Cons

Not exclusive to Uncommon, but working in schools with minimal funding sometimes meant maintenance needs were unmet.

Pros

Very good place to start your career as a teacher as they walk you through with scripted lesson plans

Cons

Workday from 7.15 am Watch kids as they come in , eat breakfast , watch them during lunch ( teachers standing the whole time ) and dismiss them outside even in freezing weather . Only rain dismissal is inside. Fridays kids leave at 12 , teachers have to go for boring PD where no one is really listening . Dismissal is 4:15 p and they call it early dismissal . Otherwise there are meetings till 5 pm .

Pros

Summers off, good coworkers, the kids are incredible

Cons

Insane behavioral expectations for students, no individuality allowed, very long work hours, leaders are all drunk on the uncommon kool-aid and don’t really care about the kids
