Lacking good management across the office

Pros

Great project opportunities. Depending on your studio it can be an excellent place to learn & grow.

Cons

Terrible management, both at the studio level and on the top side. One of the firms two leading principles actually said that he had a closed door policy- don't bother trying to talk to him about anything. The other partner only offers lip service- he says he wants change but doesn't actually try to make it happen.

Not Good for Career Development

Pros

The hours are fairly flexible, like most other design firms. Most people are friendly.

Cons

- The company has really been going downhill in the past few years. The management is top heavy. There is not a lot of transparency, but some studios have a very strong hierarchy for a company this size. - There are also a lot of politics, which often result in tons of miscommunication. - The benefit is not great either. Once in a few years you might get a bonus, but the company is barely afloat most of the time that bonus is rare. - Overtime is often expected, but not compensated. - Titles are very confusing and promotion often means nothing. - Worst of all, there's not a lot of room for growth. The turnover rate is very high.
