Pros
I was an intern at VeryApt, and really enjoyed working for co-founders Ashrit and Scott. The team was incredibly smart and amicable, and the work I helped them with was interesting, challenging, and valuable. The culture they have created is one where people are doers and not afraid to get their hands dirty. Ashrit was cognizant of my workload, and tried to balance my growth with the company’s needs. He gave me a mix of neat, impactful projects, like setting up their google analytics dashboard and helping wireframe their mobile app UI, while also helping with the occasional, less-desirable projects, like data entry. The team also strikes a nice balance of work and play. Were we getting work done in the office? Yes we were. Did we catch a bit of the World Cup while doing it? Yes, yes we did. If you have an appetite to learn how to successfully run a business, you’d likely enjoy VeryApt. Both founders are Wharton grads, and they have a team of very successful individuals across a myriad of industries (tech, hedge funds, consulting to name a few). They’ve also been successfully growing their company for a few years, so you will be surrounded by people who know how to make a business work. Not only that, you will find that everyone there is glad to share some of that knowledge with you to aid in your development. After ending my internship, I felt like I not only had a rewarding experience, but that I also walked away with a few new friends. If that’s important to you, consider working at VeryApt.
Cons
It’s a startup, and like any startup you may be tasked with less desirable projects at times, like manual data entry (though the guys really did try to keep that to a minimum)
