Pros

* Dogs. * Visas. * Cool coworkers to traumabond with. * Competitive product. * Therapy is included. * Lots of room for promotion. * Pretty Diverse.

Cons

* Toxic Work Environment. Public shamming and gaslighting in public work channels and zoom calls. It was so bad I just stopped posting in public channels, and started avoiding leadership after a while. * Favoritism is obvious. * No clear comunication of expectations even when you blatantly ask for them. * Non consistent 1:1's and when you ask for one you get gaslit that you just recieved one a few week ago when it was more like a few months ago. * Yes man culture with leadership. * Constant context shifting and throwing out of work. * So much of the software platform is built on airtable, and retool. * Counting of merge request and commit history, as well as how many comments you both recieve on your MR's and leave on other people's MR's. * "Build not buy" logic spreads the engineering team thin across large projects that would normally require significantly more engineers and time to build, which causes a lot of shortcuts to be made. * Non-existent project planning/managment. * Non-existent mentorship. * I dont know if its a con, but it was a bit strange to see the CEO publicly criticize negative reviews from the employee happiness index, and also threaten current employees who wrote negative glassdoor reviews with retaliation if they didnt remove them. * Constant revolving door of employees. Not uncommon to show up to work and find out people you worked with were randomly let go and put on garden leave out of the blue. * No annual pay raises.

Pros

- Good snacks and kitchen - Perks such as healthcare and discounts on gym etc

Cons

1. Micromanagement: Excessive micromanagement by constantly requiring daily checks of work in the morning and afternoon, checking the activity of work and recording small periods of absence from as little as 5 minutes, which may have been used for religious purposes. This induces a sense of discrimination and a lack of respect for people’s religious needs. 2. Contradictory Culture: The "family" culture in this company was contradicted by a demand for unwavering dedication and a perception of replaceability. Meetings with the CEO and the whole engineering team clearly demonstrated their lack of care towards the employees who actually put in the groundwork claiming them as ‘disposable’. Any form of criticism was brushed aside and vague statements of solutions were given. The feedback from upper management was false promises or deflections from the actual issues at hand. 3. Inflexible Work Environment: The lack of flexibility in work hours and location disregarded work-life balance needs. Ignored constant reminders of difficult home situations even when reported to P&C team. 4. Disorganized Structure and Communication: Poor organizational structure led to chaos, last-minute changes, and stressed interdepartmental communication. Any issues were generally blamed on those further down the chain whilst neglecting any self-accountability. 5. Unclear Bonus System and Favoritism: The unclear bonus scheme favoured specific members of the team, creating favouritism. This was apparent from simple discussions around the team and can be investigated easily. The bonus scheme was never explained, so attaining higher bonus percentages was always ambiguous, leaving people who did exemplary work unrewarded and unappreciated. .6. Lastly, the lack of diversity within the team is quite apparent, which has worsened over the past year, with every member of the team that has left the company being a person of colour. This is no coincidence and management must be questioned and investigated.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience at Vorboss did not meet expectations, and we take your concerns seriously. We are proud to have built one of the most diverse teams in the telecoms industry, and while we recognise there’s always more work to do, we’re committed to maintaining and improving an inclusive, respectful environment for everyone. To support this, we offer the flexibility to swap Christian holidays for other religious observances, provide a prayer room in our office, and allow adjustments to working hours during Ramadan. We're concerned to hear that these options may not have been visible or accessible in your case, and we'll work to ensure better communication around them. Your feedback around management style, communication, flexibility, and fairness in our reward structures has been noted. These are areas we are continuously reviewing, and your input will be shared with our leadership and People & Culture teams as part of our commitment to doing better. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Pros

- Great salary and benefits, Vitality, snacks, dog friendly office, 5% training bonus towards your personal or professional development

Cons

Where do I start… when I left my previous company for Vorboss, I was promised a really positive and inclusive culture and it was anything but that. Everyone is petrified of senior leadership and the CEO, to the point where if the CEO is in the kitchen, they will actively avoid it until he leaves - that’s how unapproachable he is. Like a previous review has said, it’s ironic because he tries to come across like he cares about culture so much but it’s all for show. I have never felt so on edge working for a company before. There were also constant layoff’s, and the way they were handled by senior leadership and HR was shocking. You could be working at your desk and see HR approaching and immediately feel on edge. We used to joke that we were going to be next to get that tap on the shoulder. I saw HR actively pick people out and tell them to pack their things in front of everyone, before escorting them out like they were a criminal. It is so embarrassing. I understand layoff’s need to happen from a business perspective, but the way they were handled was shocking for a company that “care so much about the culture”. Like a previous review said, the CEO has a standup every so often where senior leadership will stand around a table whilst the CEO shouts at them, it’s incredibly awkward. We used to get invited to them to watch but that stopped happening. At company socials and summer/christmas parties you’re encouraged to speak to the CEO, and by encouraged, I mean more of a “I really recommend you do this if you want to keep your job” which is just insane. It gave a message that if you weren’t friends with the CEO, your job was on the line. Speaking of being friends with the CEO, pretty much everyone in senior leadership are his friends! And absolutely nobody has a clue what their jobs even are! They say that they want this to be the best job you’ve ever had, and I can hands down say it was the worst. Such a shame for a company with so much potential

Sorry that things didn’t work out for you here. I don’t believe that anyone is ‘petrified’ of Tim and the leadership team. Given how accessible the team is (Tim has literally dozens of WhatsApps from employees across the business every day), your comments are a surprise to me. I can’t agree with them – but my team and I will think about how to ensure there aren’t others that feel this way. The recent departures that I believe you’re referring to were the result of poor performance, with multiple instances of feedback in the run up to that. I understand it can be unsettling to see colleagues move on, but everyone is given the tools to succeed here. Thanks for recognising the great benefits that we offer. We ensure everything is in place for people to thrive, but it doesn’t work out for everyone. Riks, Chief People Officer
