The employees discouraged me from taking the jobs I was offered at the end of the summer.
Pros
You can put NBC affiliate on your resume.
Cons
As an intern you are there to learn, but WWLP doesn't seem to understand this. For the first three weeks the crew wouldn't speak to me or look in my direction. It was a hostile environment walking into the office every morning (someone was usually crying or yelling), the producer of the morning show was constantly at fighting with the other employees, and everyone usually had a chip on their shoulders. After my first month I was finally allowed to assist in putting microphones on the "talent", but after that I was instructed to use the rest of my time "getting familiar with Facebook". After week six, where my insistence had finally "paid off", I was able to assist with cameras and location shoots, but that really meant that I would be barked at over the head sets, so loudly that the talent could hear while live on air. The hostile environment bled into the shows and the guests made several remarks about how cruel everyone was to one another.
