Difficult job for little respect and recognition
Pros
Friendship Academy provides a high amount of client contact hours on a school schedule. Free supervision to those seeking licensure. (Does not mean quality supervision by any means.)
Cons
I have worked at Friendship Academy under multiple changes in administration and HIGH turnover in staff. The current climate is tense among admin and regular employees. Safety is a constant issue within the handling of clients in crisis. Staff are not equipped for crisis situations because they are brand new with little training or prior experience with acute children in a partial hospital setting. The daily demands laid on employees to work with acute patients while balancing clinical documentation demands are unreasonable and will cause rapid burnout. You will take your work home and there will likely not be recognition for the efforts you make.
