Pros

I was able to learn quite a few new concepts and tools quickly (that was because this is an early stage startup and if you don’t learn it, it just doesn’t get done). The WFH remote time was awesome and I was very productive but, they changed it to target individuals unfairly that live in the Bay Area. If you live here you must get COVID tested and come into the office M, W, F at minimum.

Cons

Very clique-y!!! Many managers don’t want you to ever excel above them and they will actively work to make sure they are always above you. Treatment of employees is not equal and many individuals would get preferential treatment including their ability to work remotely and/or not delivering equivalent amounts of work and still getting promoted. Make sure you ask for a copy of the “Culture Deck” before you sign any employment agreement.

Pros

Wavely’s mission is great and for the most part the majority of the people working there are wonderful and kind people to work with.

Cons

-random firings without any real cause when those who really should be fired for bad performance continues to stick around -will hire people under remote/hybrid structures with a promise of flexibility only to force everyone into a office taking away any flexibility around working from home for any reason, however, this forced in office policy only applies to some and not others -leadership absolutely picks favorites and put blame for bad results on others - MASSIVE turnover - “open door policy” leadership has is not really open door. They get defensive and turn it back on the employee if anyone comes with any constructive feedback -be prepared to be belittled in meetings and group settings. This is leadership’s favorite thing to do to those who are not deemed “favorites” -absolutely no work-life balance

Pros

Wavely's external goals are noble - they want to bring power to people and the hiring process. However, internally they do not live up to their own standard.

Cons

Complete lack of transparency - hires "remote" but will immediately push for relocation to San Mateo, or an office near you. Management plays favorites with employees, favored employees mistakes/missteps are miraculously spun to reflect poorly on those "unfavored" by management. Taking PTO is severely looked down upon. No long-term growth opportunities. Lack of cross-department communication. Lack of communications of expectations. Random firings regardless of performance. Employees misled about potential promotions, bonuses, etc. Any feedback given will only be negative, never positive. Feedback is given without tact as a form of public shaming. Dismissive management, constantly demeans employees. Lack of care for morale and motivation of employees. Endless meetings that go nowhere. Forced attendance of irrelevant meetings by other staff.
