Pros

Such friendly people, made friends for life Good pay and very generous benefits You can set up your own initiatives and really shine if you want to - set up what you want (within reason) Amazing food! Really interesting arts and culture clients Very well respected and well known outside the brand/design world Lots of education/learning opportunities and open culture of asking questions Flat structure Help to make things happen for you - like a trip abroad.

Cons

Shifting its direction around a bit, for a company that purport to be all about one clear direction and purpose.. Some people drink a little too much of the kool aid

Hello – it’s Sairah here. Thanks for taking time out to share your feedback. If you’re still with us and happy to, I’d love to talk. Particularly around your point on favouritsm and how we make sure things feel fair – whether that’s to do with who we’re promoting or whether we’re accenting a certain personality type (which is a theme that’s cropped up elsewhere that I’d like to pay attention to). It’s great to know we’re doing some things right and we’ll keep working at it.

Pros

- So many wonderful benefits including yoga, circuits in the park, daily "WOW" snack, huge breakfast, subsidised lunches and so many more! - Very down to earth group of people who quickly become family - Lovely airy, bright office - Great place to learn and grow and be yourself - Happy and positive environment

Cons

- Having set hours including a set lunch hour could sometimes prevent flexibility - The commute was a bit tricky and finishing at 6 meant late evenings

Hi - it's Sairah here. Thanks for taking time out to share your experiences. It's wonderful to know you had a great time with us and found the environment so positive - that means a lot. The topic of set hours continues to generate a lot of good natured debate as I imagine you know!

Great people, great work, outdated policies

Pros

- As many others have pointed out, the people are great and very supportive - The work itself is incredible for such a long-running studio, our name clearly still means something in the industry - The perks and benefits are good and better than other agencies in our sphere - Collaboration genuinely isn’t just a buzzword, it’s authentic and visible in many ways - Non-hierarchical, always feel like I can work with senior leadership through to juniors without running into inflated egos or lack of access - On the note of juniors, incredibly gifted and talented individuals coming in at that level, very inspiring and promising for the industry - The work shares, company updates and more are a nice touch and add a lot the agency - People returning to work after pregnancy are especially well taken care off and highly commendable, kudos to the team on this

Cons

- Orwellian approach to flexible working, to put it mildly. The number of days we do in the studio (3 minimum is required) is being closely monitored by the number of times we tap in to the building in a week, when we connect to the wifi and possibly in other ways. - We’re essentially being taxed for our contractual benefits. You are required to ‘make up’ for weeks we haven’t done 3 days in the studio by doing extra days in following weeks regardless of whether we’ve taken a sick day, public holidays, annual leave etc. It’s making me think twice about taking time off in the first place. - Representation of women is great across almost all seniorities and teams. Ethnic groups and neurodivergent representation is shocking. - Booking a desk is challenging due to the 3 days per week return to the office mandate. People are often booking desks with screens when they are working from their laptop. But if you don’t need a screen, the options for where to work from in the studio are limited.

Hi - it's Sairah here. I appreciate the time you've taken to share the above and can see you've been thoughtful - thank you. I'm thrilled there is plenty you find positive and that's working for you (and us!). Especially around our people, collaboration and way of working - that's wonderful. I know the 3 days a week thing is causing unhappiness for some and while we want to be flexible we also know that spending time together is important for our culture and our work. It's a tricky one and I hear you on the screen/desk issues (we're working on it as I write this). Pleased to know we're getting some things right regarding representation and it's a work in progress as you rightly observe. We're committed to change, recognise it will take time and will keep investing - all thoughts and connections are very welcome. Thanks again for taking the time and do find me if there's anything more you'd like to share.

Changing for the better

Pros

Broadly every pro in previous reviews resonate with my experience. I have never worked with a group of more intelligent, passionate, dedicated, friendly people. The 2017 leadership changes in London are invigorating the company. Working at Wolff Olins will constantly challenge and stretch you in ways you can't imagine. Offers highly attractive maternity and paternity schemes and flexible working for parents.

Cons

Many of the criticisms in previous reviews resonate but to a lesser extent now. Other agencies offer more extensive, fully inclusive benefits like healthcare that Wolff Olins discounts. There is a sense of presenteeism and a feeling that working on site, 0930 to 1800 (and beyond) is the best way to get ahead. Perhaps more could be done to embrace flexible working for all. Many practitioners are promoted to leadership with little formal management or leadership training. There's an over-reliance on 'on the job' and in house devised training.

Hi - it's Sairah here. Thanks for taking time out to share your thoughts on how we're doing at Wolff Olins. It's great to know that the things we've been focused on are making a difference and that the changes we put in place last year have made a tangible difference - that's brilliant. I agree there's more we could do in terms of helping our people develop their own unique personal leadership style, as well as equipping everyone with a common set of WO centred leadership skills. It's something we'll be spending some time on this year. The presenteeism point you raise is an interesting one. I'd always want us to be progressive and experimental around flexible working, while recognising the need for structure, community and being easily find-able at short notice. One for us to keep working on I think. Thanks again.

Pros

People at moments are great, good benefits, holidays, flexible, locations Creative work can be plentiful, but need cash cows as well.

Cons

Compensation if you are not in UPPER MGMT, not many raises, operates like an inverted pyramid so there are a lot of high high salaries at the top and that's why people at the bottom don't get raises often.

Hi - it's Sairah here. Thanks for taking time out to share your thoughts and your positive feedback about the work and the benefits we offer. I take on board your advice to ensure those who don't make a fuss don't get overlooked. The external pay benchmarking survey carried out each year is designed to ensure fairness across the board, so I was a little confused by your comment on compensation. The survey is due to happen this quarter and I'll catch up with Tom and Ashley. Thanks again and good luck with your new adventures!

Pros

- Caring management team - Interesting and varied work - I feel we're making a positive impact in the world - Excellent working conditions - Great teamwork with top class teams - Great benefits

Cons

Could be more ethnically diverse but they are making steps to address this both at Wolff Olins and even in other creative agencies through collaborations with the Brixton Finishing School and other programmes. Parent company can sometimes make the ease of work a struggle.

Pros

Some of the people are lovely Wellbeing programme Food and parties

Cons

Living off past glories. No competition for newer, independent agencies who offer better working environments and better benefits. New building is awful and makes it feel very corporate. There’s a lot of self praising and smoke blowing which creates arrogance. Some very rude people, particularly people in higher positions. (The no hierarchy claim is a lie)

Hi - it's Sairah here. Thanks for taking time out to share your thoughts. I'm really glad that our people and how we look after them get a positive mention. Although I'm obviously sad to see your negative feedback relating to our reputation and leadership of the business. With our recent and upcoming high profile launches I'm not convinced we are living off past glories and I'm excited to back our teams around the world who are confidently flying the WO flag. I say this with some confidence having seen a few twists and turns in both our fortunes and work quality over the last 20+ years. It's your comments about leadership that disturb me most (self praising, arrogance and rudeness) as they feel very unlike us and don't support our aspirations. I'll pick this up as an action to dig into and do please get in touch directly if you'd like to share more - I'd certainly welcome and appreciate that (and if you think I may be part of the problem then I'd encourage you to get in touch with Abbie). Thanks again for sharing, I hope you enjoyed your time with us and I I wish you the very best with everything.
