Poor management - empire builders; inept people skills; favouritism; bigotry; don't communicate effectively with employees; blame lower tier workers and take no responsibility for problems; not sure MD knows what's happening in the factory (never seen during time employed); senior management never speak to anyone on shop floor.
Poor communication - right hand doesn't know what the left is doing; despatch is last minute with trucks waiting for parts to be made or checked by quality dept.
Poor climate control - either roasting hot with fans blowing hot air from ovens and air con not on, or freezing cold with air conditioning on; lots of water leaks in roof with water on floor and buckets / bins to catch it.
Poor machine maintenance - machines leak oil and water constantly; pressing tools lying everywhere; no room to work safely; Kaizen and 5S not implemented properly; oil leaks a major problem.
Poor HS and E - shop floor employees are expected to clean water and oil to prevent getting hurt; plastic pellets spilling from machines into drains; paintshop waste and cleaning products being thrown out back door; toilets dirty; sewage backing up at times in middle of factory.
Poor business strategy - try to be lean manufacturing through kaizen, 5S or TPM; really just a tick box and PR stunt, no will to follow through and improve things; floor staff not encouraged to suggest improvements, or when they do, management get credited and rewarded.
Poor benefits - salary is of living wage, but there's better for doing less and not being treated poorly; no shift allowance but expected to work 40 hours rotational shifts, holidays are dictated by the management.
Final point - A company based on blame culture, being ignorant / rude to others, and expected to do too much. No gratitude ever shown unless 'in' with upper management or work in offices. Sadly, a white collar / blue collar divide with shop floor employee opinions and ideas being stolen by management for own progression and image.
