I worked at YRC Freight full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, and if you like social activities outside of work.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't listen to employee recommendations and are cooking the books to make EOY look better. Laying off corporate employees to add to their numbers.

    Advice to Management

Don't spend millions on things that don't work and are recommended against by your employees. You had a lot of intelligent people working for you, listen to them.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at YRC Freight full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pretty laid back, casual dress attire. Pay is competitive. Have the flexibility to book your own travel.

    Cons

Very aged in every aspect from the employees to the systems. There is little to no training in place for positions. Everything moves at a very slow pace.

    Advice to Management

Put in place a training program to set your employees up to start growing into their roles rather than having to figure it all out on their own.

I have been working at YRC Freight full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Can't think or recall any...

    Cons

All Sick call-ins go against driver record. Driver's get laid off permanently between November and March every year. No family time... they promote slave culture. They treat customers like garbage and vice - versa. Dispatchers are good. Union role and company management are no different...think before applying!!! Prepare to be surrounded by back stabbers and grumpy people all around. Driver's drive high on... pot. Forget the equipment...

    Advice to Management

Stop treating driver's like slaves. Learn to appreciate hard work instead of saying "that's your job". Stop thriving on politics. Learn to manage not enslave your workforce. This company keeps going downhill each year...wake up!!!

I worked at YRC Freight full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The team members are great to work with! If you don’t have a lot of Sales experience so cannot get hired at a better Freight company then you can get good experience here.

    Cons

They do don’t care about their employees or customers! They will step over a dollar to save a nickel. Continually lose customers and employee because they just don’t care and think customers and employees are very replaceable. Work life balance is horrible. To much time taking us away from our territory with the same monotonous conference call and meetings. They pay the lowest in the industry. If you have... experience don’t work here. Upper management is the good old boys club no women. VP’s maybe one if that director. The fellow employees make it worth it and the customers are great. Just constantly trying to keep them when the service fails. Disconnect between operations and corporate.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your own Glint Surveys. Care about your employees. It is 3 times harder to replace a good customer, do what it takes!
