Pros

-Great location / cool office -Lots of good food options in the area -They sometimes buy beer on fridays but these days not so much -Most coworkers are very nice, friendly, collaborative, and supportive both emotionally and professionally -Have made friends here with whom I still keep in touch

Cons

-I genuinely wanted to like working here. I gave it the benefit of the doubt even after noticing a few red flags in my first week. But unfortunately, MPB is by far the most fascist workplace of the several places / people I have worked for in NYC. -No one higher management seems to have any idea what they’re doing. They are evidently insecure about this based on their deplorable behavior to employees who only want things to improve and are asking for help. -Run by a handful of young guys who don’t have much experience in their field and seem more interested in partying and carrying on inappropriate relationships in the workplace. -Managers are petty, condescending, retaliatory and dismissive to employees who speak up or provide solutions to issues. Forget about working here if you are a woman or a POC, or just don’t want to be victimized by your employers. -If you have any constructive criticism or are bringing to light issues that are affecting you and your colleagues, prepare to be gaslit. -They love calling out “unprofessional” behavior, yet one of the heads of the company is having an affair with one of their own employees; a high-level manager makes inappropriate / sexually suggestive comments and encourages drug use at work events; one other manager (whose title I never quite knew) is more focused on suppressing dissent and complaints rather than addressing the actual issues themselves. -Lack of disciplinary action against employees who aren’t pulling their weight. One particularly favored employee is constantly allowed to come in several hours late or leave several hours early or just not show up at all. -The same employee makes audaciously insensitive and bigoted comments on sexual assault, police brutality, posts memes making light of a particularly violent and deeply cultural form of suicide (harakiri), and this employee also literally has a dagger sitting on their desk. I have tried to ask this person to stop justifying sexual assault and my colleagues have all tried reporting the disgusting racist remarks to no avail. -Absentee HR department in the US office evidently can’t do much to control things, but at the end of the day they work for the company and not the employees. After several hour-long meetings it became clear to me that they had no intention of doing the right thing in any matter, hence why I left after a mere 3 months. -Management is ignorant of cultural and political differences between UK and US and were not adequately prepared to open a stateside office. They do not try to listen and understand and be empathetic, even when half a dozen employees stage a walkout. -Investments always seemed very precarious and unconfirmed. We never knew when money would actually come through. Investors would drop out and MPB would provide either vague explanations or conveniently displaced blame onto the “fraudulent” investors. -Customers would call and email everyday calling the company a scam. And now I believe they were right. -Their low salary is FAR from a living wage -Bare minimum benefits -Terrible coffee -Terrible snacks

Pros

Friendly staff, good socials, central location

Cons

Very very clique, not much support, not very diverse, unapproachable management, not a lot of promotions (unless you're sleeping with a manager/CEO...), mostly male management, badly pay

At MPB we value the contribution of all of our people. Supporting them to develop into the best version of themselves - providing opportunities to enhance both experiences and careers is important. Part of that journey is providing an awareness and understanding of the importance of being inclusive, open, fair and equitable in our actions, the way that decisions are made and the environment that we work in. The reward for this is an organisation that is focused on ensuring we are representative of our communities; that works to address under-representation in our workforce, market and supply chain. We celebrate the diversity of our people and recognise the importance of variety of perspective in the delivery of best in class service to our customers. In that vein, more than 40% (and growing) of our managers, decision makers and leaders are female. We are committed to providing fair pay to all of our employees - we ensure that no-one earns less than the living wage and that we review our salary levels on an annual basis. And in recognition of individual achievement, we look to our employees first when seeking our next generation of managers and leaders, acknowledging their personal strengths and contribution. We recognise that as our organisation continues to evolve and grow, so too will the challenge. Consequently, we welcome all feedback that enables us to progress and develop.
