Pros

Working for starpower was one of the best experiences of my life. The team combines an incredible work ethic with genuinely great people. The collaborative spirit at this agency is exceptional. The work is challenging at times, but the face time with clients and the leadership team makes it incredibly rewarding. The Presidents Jared Weiss and Matt Lalin are intentional about being visible and available to the entire team. Liz and Jen are the type of managers everyone wants in their corner. Job is fully remote.

Cons

Missing out on being in NYC where the full team is located plus the clients can be isolating for some.

Pros

Starpower is an amazing agency to work for. In the 5+ years I was with the company, there were endless opportunities for growth and career development (promotions, account changes, leadership training, mentor and management opportunities, etc). Senior leadership really looks out for the entire team and wants what’s best for them. There is face to face opportunity with leadership for everyone at the company, and it’s CEO and other leaders are involved and active. Starpower is an agency where hard work is appreciated and celebrated, and not taken for granted. It’s also an agency that will work with the teams to ensure people are happy, fulfilled and comfortably challenged. The brands, clients and work are all of a very high caliber. The culture feels young and energetic: people are close and have developed real friendships both in and outside of the work place. The hybrid work model is in place to ensure that folks have the space to work how they are comfortable and there is a genuine respect for work life balance and personal life priorities. I would recommend working at this company 10 times over, and can assume that the many employees who have been there for 10+, or any extended period of time, would say the same.

Cons

This is not a knock on starpower but more of a reality of working at an agency, but it is possible that some clients are needier or more difficult than others. If a situation like this occurs, starpower leadership would work through it with the team in a hands on way.

Pros

– Creative, smart, supportive team members – Opportunity to manage high-profile campaigns – Fast-paced environment where you learn a lot

Cons

– Leadership engages in gossip, cliques, and internal politics that impact the culture and people’s careers – Certain managers openly discuss employees behind their backs, leading to distrust – Favorites are chosen based on socializing and attending after hours events, not performance – Emotional manipulation is normalized — shifting expectations, inconsistent feedback, and dismissive communication – Boundaries are not respected (expect early morning and late night messages, pressure to be “on” constantly) – Psychological safety is low; raising concerns can lead to subtle retaliation or being iced out – HR is pleasant but basically powerless against certain senior leaders – Workload is heavy and deliverable expectations shift without support – Employees with strong boundaries or quieter personalities are labeled as having “attitude”
