I was given an offer a few months ago to work at one of their branch offices and I even turned down another job offer so I could work with tk1sc. They called me 2 days before my starting date to rescind the offer due to financial issues with the Irvine office. Okay, “fool me once shame on you.”
Then they recently called, apologized and offered me the position if I was still interested. I accepted, quit my temp job and signed all the paperwork. Then I went to the Irvine office for a 3 day orientation, signed more papers and everything seemed to be fine. Until the 3rd day, I was told I “didn’t fit in,” they were letting me go and didn’t have to give me a reason why since they are an at-will company. So “fool me twice, shame on me.”
I was in meetings most of the time I was there and I didn’t even have a chance to perform my job and prove myself. I wasn’t supposed to work in the Irvine office, what did it matter if I fit in? Who are they to decide how I fit in at their branch offices? I gave up a steady income to work for this group and now I find myself unemployed. It was like being lured into a stranger’s car with candy and then ultimately left on a roadside for dead.
In retrospect, I noticed that whenever I walked into the vicinity, the other women’s voices would drop to a whisper and they did seem a bit cliquish. So BEWARE of accepting an offer from this company, especially if you’re a woman.
