    Pros

    Good benefits, work from home

    Cons

Don't do it. Stay in the car business. There is zero chance for promotion. You will not make great money. Inept management (your resume is better than her's). No sense of direction. Horrible culture. Lack of support and structure. Condescending management. Made to feel like nothing is ever good enough, and you're completely disposable. Arrogance abound from leadership and company. Held responsible for things completely out of your control, and they'll write you up and fire you for it. Seriously. It's the best job you'll ever want to quit as soon as possible.

I worked at vAuto full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great way to get exposure to the job market especially coming out of college for IT-related positions. Good pay for your services and great work environment. Most people there are fun to talk to and it's a great place to network with people even outside of the immediate company. You work with many other offices and companies so you really get a sense of being involved in a lot of decision making and information for individual accounts. Along with learning how those other companies or offices function. A lot of times are offered free food, even on a monthly basis.

    Cons

The position is heavily focused around calls as the amount of work outweighs the amount of people available. The position is heavily knowledge-based where you will need to learn most of your information while trying to help the client or by making mistakes. This also means you need to be able to have the information handy as a call can go anywhere from internal issues to issues relating to third parties. Training is sufficient to handle the basics but the rest you learn on your own and are encouraged to know only know everything about the app you support but also know the system of sister parties and how they work to be able to assist customers better. This is taking on more and more responsibility that doesn't relate to the immediate company. They slowly incorporate more and more and the app is already sufficiently large and difficult to keep track of everything. They themselves let you know nobody knows everything about the app. You shouldn't expect to become a pro in coding or programming by any means as you only work on understanding roughly 3 complex pieces of SQL code and other much simpler SQL code that can be copied and adjusted per account. No other language is ever introduced unless you choose to become an L4; which rarely happens as promotions can get scarce and competitive. If you choose to be developer or software engineer down the line, most of the knowledge learned here will essentially be wasted space.

I worked at vAuto full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you are just getting started in software engineering, I think there is a lot of opportunity to learn a lot of old tech, and maybe some new tech here. If you want a 9 to 5 paycheck, and don't really care about working on the bleeding edge, this place is perfect. They have a solid benefits package, even if the pay is less than what the Austin market goes for. The people you work with every day are bright, talented, and generally make it a great place to be day to day.

    Cons

If you desire an opportunity to build something new, look elsewhere. They are coasting by on a ~15 year old product built with ~10 year old tech, and there's too much fear of change in order to modernize. Plus, they are really gunning to prove that "external vendors" can deliver what their in house team isn't allowed to. The management you work for have limited vision and are generally driven by fear. They are pushing a narrative of "outcomes" over "output", but aren't applying the same consequences to themselves.

I have been working at vAuto

    Pros

Good company with great benefits. They offer good PTO availability. They have decent retirement options like 401K and pension. Health benefits are also good. There is some room for advancement within the company. However, unless you are in with certain people, a jog here is better looked up as a stepping point for those getting that initial experience in the IT world.

    Cons

Case workload is horrible. We're expected to have huge case loads, but are not given time away from incoming calls to work the cases. There are some huge concerns with management. There is a lot of scheming and plotting between managers. Nepotism is blatant. Horribly unqualified people advance so managers have their people in place because the drink the koolaid. Some managers, moreso in operations, some in support, are more concerned with making decisions that will protect their own jobs... Instead of doing their jobs. I wanted to apply for a position in operations. But I avoided it after seeing how the managers operate that team. I'm happier where I am.

I worked at vAuto full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great break room and a few good co-workers.

    Cons

The management in the Operational Excellence group is narcissistic. The find every opportunity to beat down and bully their employees and tell them they are wrong. Even going as far as discriminating because of cultural clothing even though it fit within dress guidelines. Compliments are few and far between unless you are in the “In Crowd”. If management makes a bad decision, it is always someone else’s fault. Management doesn’t care for the well being of their employee should they be injured or require a medical procedure. They will hound their employee on when they are coming back rather than making sure they take the necessary time to recover. Employees are also scared to go to HR because there is a stigma that their info won’t stay confidential.

    Pros

Break room is good and there are a handful of talented people there. Easy work. Very hard to get fired, no matter how much you phone it in. Good if you want to coast.

    Cons

Incompetence from middle management and absolutely no one is held accountant at any level. Bad apples go unchecked and there are repercussions for speaking up. Product has no clue what to do with the products and just throw things at the wall, hoping something will stick. As a result, employees spin their wheels or twiddle their thumbs. Additionally, any dealer with a harebrained idea can likely get it through if they know Dale because nobody on the product team has a clearer direction.

I worked at vAuto full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Tech stack can be interesting to work on depending on the team - Some very sharp coworkers that are passionate about technology - Flexible working hours which promotes a good work-life balance

    Cons

    - Compensation has not kept up with the surrounding market - Promotions are scarce with a preference to hire from the outside - There is no product direction and no one is held accountable for a lack of research before attempting to go to market with unreasonable timeline expectations - Critical failures at all levels of management to deal with employees that cannot pull their weight

Great work life balance (hardly any work at all get's done here)

Management has no clue what to do. Giant mess, tons of levels of middle management with absolutely no ability to change things. Everyone is leaving, it's a hopless situation.
