For the past 21 years, Mary Donnell has built an impressive career at AutoNation—one step, one skill, and one opportunity at a time. Mary began her journey as a greeter. Before long, her attention to detail led her to perform quality assurance checks on vehicles before they left the store. From there, she trained as a Service Advisor—and soon after, she was the one training new Service Advisors. Her dedication and leadership took her across several AutoNation stores, from Toyota Weston to Mercedes-Benz of Pompano and Coconut Creek. There, she stepped into the role of Service Manager, and eventually—when the opportunity presented itself—she rose to Service Director. Mary leads with empathy and communication. As she puts it: “One of the most valuable skills one can ask for is the ability to listen. When you're able to stop thinking and just genuinely listen to someone, you will figure out 85% of things that go wrong is communication." And for women looking to grow their careers in the automotive industry, Mary offers this advice: 1️⃣ Find a mentor and shadow them—someone who holds the position you aspire to. 2️⃣ Train constantly—attend every in-person and online session you can. 3️⃣ Keep growing—teach yourself one new thing every month. Thank you, Mary, for your two decades of leadership, dedication, and commitment to excellence. We’re proud to have you on the AutoNation team!
