All of us around the world have been facing a difficult situation right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our thoughts remain with everyone who’s been personally affected by the virus, and we extend our thanks and support to the healthcare professionals working tirelessly to keep us all safe. And of course, we encourage everyone to stay at home and wash your hands (for at least 20 seconds). Because fueling is an essential business, ChargePoint employees continue to do our best work (albeit now from home) to ensure that EV drivers can continue to charge up around the world. However, times like these cause us to reflect more deeply on the motivations behind what we do. Many of us work on electric mobility because we care deeply about leaving a brighter future for the next generation. Our commitment to making the world a better place is intensified at this moment as we look for ways to help community members in need, whether it’s by staying in our homes, shopping for neighbors in need or just doing our day jobs—helping people get where they need to go, emission-free.
ChargePoint has been working to move all people and goods on electricity since 2007, and I’ve been a happy ChargePointer since 2011 — hard to believe it’s been over 10 years. My official title may not imply my roots, but I started my career in engineering and I’ll always be an engineer at heart. Anyone on my team will tell you I don’t hesitate to get involved in the details of how our products work, and I care about making sure that we set a clear product vision and work to achieve it. As I mentioned when we recently announced our agreement to acquire has·to·be, a provider of e-mobility software in Europe, companies can grow by expanding the geographies they access and/or the product offerings they sell. We are excited about the opportunity to work with has·to·be following the close of that transaction to extend our reach in Europe, a market that is growing quickly as more people and companies choose e-mobility.
ChargePoint is building the fueling network of the future, to move all people and goods on electricity across North America and Europe. We’ve been busy building a leading network, rooted in our belief in the power of software to address the complexity of fueling where people live, work and play. Since our early days, we’ve been convicted about the essential role of software in delivering an excellent electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for businesses, fleets and drivers alike. The most vivid memory of my journey at ChargePoint (actually, the company was Coulomb Technologies at the time) was my first interview for the CEO role. It was 2011. I had just met with Mark Leschly, an early ChargePoint investor who told me about the company’s vision. The notion of a new fueling network that didn’t come with the compromises we’d all just accepted with liquid fuels resonated with me. ChargePoint had some interesting ideas. Intrigued, but wanting to validate what I’d heard, I sat in my car after the interview to do some quick calculations. Read More: Click on the link below
Time flies when you love what you do. 2021 marks my 10th anniversary with ChargePoint. It’s sometimes hard to believe because, in terms of the maturation of the EV market, we’re still in the early days. Today, the electrification of mobility is certain. Not one, but several EV commercials aired during this year’s Super Bowl. It wasn’t always so obvious. To say there were a lot of skeptics when ChargePoint was founded back in 2007 would be an understatement. Society can have a hard time believing that the present will not continue forever despite first principles indicating otherwise. Even among the people who believed in a clean transportation future, there weren’t many willing to invest capital, and yet a small group of brave souls invested their careers at ChargePoint.
