Brewing a Better and Sustainable Future: 7-Eleven Hong Kong Pioneers Coffee Grounds Upcycling Program "Grounds to Green" 7-Eleven Hong Kong is proud to launch the groundbreaking "Grounds to Green" Coffee Grounds Upcycling Program, marking the beginning of Hong Kong's first sustainable green cycle of care initiative. This pioneering initiative aligns with DFI's ongoing commitment to Sustaining the Planet and Serving Communities by partnering with Foodlink Foundation and a local charity-operated farm and connecting with valued customers to breathe new life into coffee grounds, benefiting both people and the planet. Instead of ending up in landfills, used coffee grounds from 7CAFÉ are given new life as nutrient-rich fertiliser, helping grow fresh, healthy produce. These vegetables are then donated to ten charities across Hong Kong, including our long-time partner Pei Ho Counterparts, who in turn prepare and distribute free meals for those in need. With a goal to recycle the grounds from 1.25 million cups of 7CAFÉ coffee each year, this initiative is projected to yield an impressive 4,000kg of fresh organic vegetables while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 19,256kg. It is a testament to our dedication to making a real difference, one cup of coffee at a time. Join us in supporting this inspiring initiative and discover how your everyday choices can help build a more sustainable future for all.
Earlier this month, we extended a very warm welcome to our 2024 Future Retail Leaders Programme cohort where nine graduate associates from Hong Kong and Singapore gathered to attend the orientation week in our Hong Kong office. The 4-day orientation was filled with exciting activities where our graduates associates had the opportunity to meet and learn from our business leaders about their retail insights and career aspirations, completed their store learning expedition and get first-hand experience of our store operations and distribution center, visited Pokfulam Farm to explore the historical roots of DFI, as well as accomplished a team building session with their fellow graduate associates. After their store attachment, the group will very soon start job rotations within our Commercial, Marketing, People & Culture, and Supply Chain functions. This is an exciting time for all as they embark on their path of personal and professional growth in their respective functional areas. We wish our graduate associates a great start and look forward to seeing them soar higher with us!
