World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people around the world to unite in the fight against HIV. It’s also a chance to raise awareness, show support for the 38 million people globally living with HIV, and remember the 35 million people who have died of HIV or AIDS-related illnesses. The theme of this year’s World AIDS Day is “Equalize.” Today, scientific advances in HIV treatments let people with HIV live longer and healthier lives. However, four decades into the HIV response, global inequalities persist for basic services like testing, treatment, and prevention, and even more so for new technologies. Working together, we can ease the burdens of people living with HIV and bring an end to the global HIV epidemic.
